Problem # 2: F10.20 Alcohol Use Disorder- Severe evidenced by; description of behavior related alcohol amount, frequency. M is a 68-year-old retired Union Iron worker, Vietnam Veteran who presents voluntarily for this first hospitalization at Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital. He states upon admission "I started drinking again and if I don't stop my wife is going to leave me. I'm depressed, I'm in bad shape and I need help". He reveals he first tried alcohol at age 14. He drank while in the service. He states, "I did not drink any alcohol for 18 years while my son was growing up". He reveals his father was an alcoholic who committed suicide and killed his girlfriend by gunshot when he was 10-years-old. He states, "I had neck surgery in 2017 and …show more content…
Pt shares negative consequences of alcohol use in process group. 2. Pt shares positive consequence of not using alcohol with process group. 3. Pt will identify 3 triggers/reasons for substance use. INTERVENTION: 1. Assist the patient with the completion of a list of triggers or reasons for substance use. Help him to process the list verbally. (Psychoeducational group 7 times per week, 50- minute sessions). EVALUATION OF OUTCOME 1. Pt presents his list in process group or with a therapist. 4-Pt will develop a written leisure skills program with 3 healthy leisure activities to reduce stress and improve health. He will share this list with his therapist prior to discharge. INTERVENTION: 1. Assist the patient with the completion of a written leisure program and help him to process the list verbally. (Psychoeducational group/process group 7 times per week, 50- minute session. Activity/recreation therapy 7 times per week 50-minute session). 2. Encourage and assist Pt to make a list of possible activities he may enjoy after discharge. EVALUATION OF OUTCOME 1. Pt shares list in group or with therapist. 2. Pt engages in leisure therapy and recreation
