Valparaiso university is a Lutheran institution in the state of Indiana; about hour’s drive from Chicago and Indianapolis. The college was founded in 1859, and offers numerous liberal arts studies, professional training, and graduate study. Academically, the college offers more than seventy undergraduate majors, such as Business, Engineering, Nursing and much more. In regards to Graduate programs, the school offers Law, Counseling, economics, Business, Legal Studies, Chinese Studies, Liberal Studies, and much more. However, the college seems to be missing diversity, which could harm students in the long run. Multiculturalism awareness is vital to the success of students in the work place. Without it, people fall into a world of ignorance. The United States is becoming more diverse, thus that means people’s values and ethics are quite different than the “traditional” American view of life. For example, Hispanics would be considered to have strong family ties, while non-Hispanic do not. Therefore, being educated in the multicultural department will benefit students career wise and in interpersonal relationships. Secondly, as it is stated, students are required to take two long theology classes. Those classes include understanding the Bible, understanding Islam, Topics in Religious Ethics, and Black Theology and Black Church.
