Listo System
Listo System, established in 1990, is one world’s top graphic service companies. It was launched when technological advancement were increasing and creating more competitive market. The company was successful to grow quickly into one of the top graphic service companies in the world. Listo system was rapidly providing quality services and products faster and more efficiently by using advanced technology. However, new technologies had also helped its competitors and soon they were growing in numbers and quality of products and services. Customers were also demanding quick service and quality product and were not hesitating to go to a competitor if their needs are not met.
Impact of power shifting from seller to buyer There were certain issues Listo System had to face after their success. One of them was that Listo System has been growing too speedily and the company was not been able to cope up with this growth appropriately. This lead occur various problems like lack of proper training for new employees, management becoming less concerned with worker’s opinion and more focused as production and profit. Since the company was in rapid growth, customers were demanding prompt service and more production. For this Listo System had to hire more employees. But due to growing customer demand in a rapid pace Listo system did not focused to train their new employees. Moreover, company was lacking a clearness regarding company’s objectives and goals. As a result, employee’s motivation and productivity level was decreasing. On the other hand, due to such uncertain reasons, the company was not able to utilize the latest technologies in best and effective way which directly affected their production of goods and services as they were not been able to fulfill their customer’s need and demand. Different competitors emerge and run on the path of Listo System. Using advanced technologies, the competitors soon successfully pulled the customers towards them. Similarly, as customers were getting faster services and quality product, they were easily attracted to competitors. For Listo System, customer began to bargain as they were getting many facilities from competitors.
External environmental factors affecting Listo system External factors refer to those factors which occur beyond our control such as natural calamities, political issues, societal aspect etc. Those factors are beyond our control. Many people and companies had faced great loss due to uncertain external factors. Some had faced due to their negligence in planning for future extends, some had faced internal conflicts and some had faced due to lack of awareness. In case of Listo System, there are several external environmental factors that had an adverse affect to future of the company. Although those controversies could had not made such a huge loss to the company if they had a better management system for present and future prospects.
Following are the factors affecting Listo System:
1. Advance Technology: As in this case, Listo system could not adapt advance technologies and implement it in their system, the company failed to provide progressive products and services to the customers. With change in time, people changes and their demand too. In today’s context, new technologies are developed so that it would be easier for consumer to buy and use those products. New technologies had made better quality of life. Services with advance technology are much more satisfactory and comfortable. But Listo System was too busy in making products and profit that they did not noticed that they were being backward in the world of technology assessment. Unused of advance technologies was one of the factors that affect Listto System with great loss.
2. Growing Competitor: Listo System was the top company providing the services of graphic designing. They had entered with a great and unique concept which was very much appreciated by the world. Their success growth was rapidly increasing out of control. But one important factor that they were not aware was growing number of their competitors. Their competitors were adapting their concept with advance technologies. As Listo System were not applying new technologies in their products and services, their competitors made this aspect as the most powerful weapon. They were producing and providing better services with versatile techniques and better quality. Thus Listo System broke down as they were not being able to compete with the market.
3. Customer Demand: With advance technologies and better facilities by other competitor, demand of customer increased. They were getting more functional product and quality services from others than Listo System. Gradually demand increased and customer began to bargain as they were much aware about the quality and price of products. They were demanding higher quality product in less price which was not in favor of Listo System.
Summary and Conclusion Listo System, being one of the top graphic services company started in 1990, gradually faced many obstacles. Those obstacles could had been lessen if the company could had awareness for those uncertain situations. External as well as internal factors made the company to bear an adverse loss. Listo System could had continue being the leading graphic designing company if they had good management and technology assessment system. They should had been aware about their employees as well as their consumer’s want in this competitive market. A strong company should always have market research time to time concerning about what their consumer are demanding, what their competitors are planning for, what technologies can be used for better production and last but not the least what aspects to be used to motivate employees and satisfy them as they are the key factors to run a company.

Cognitive Dissonance Psychologically, Cognitive dissonance stands for mental stress experienced by and individual when he/she is in dilemma. When there are two choices for a problem and we are not being able to choose which ultimately gives us mental stress is referred as cognitive dissonance. In other words we can say that cognitive dissonance is a situation when our attitude differs from our behavior. We are planning for something else but eventually we are bound to do opposite to it. For example, people knew that smoking is injurious to health. Even though they knew this fact they are still smoking. They cannot control themselves even when they wanted to quit. Similarly, most of the time we planned to go on diet, but eventually we are having oily foods. So here planning to go on a diet is our attitude and eating oily foods although we want to be on diet is our behavior. Another example can be on financial problems. When we are suffering economically and unfortunately get in relationship with a person who is not a responsible spender. Those are the situation when we suffer from mental stress, which is known as cognitive dissonance.
“The existence of dissonance, being psychologically uncomfortable, will motivate the person to try to reduce the dissonance and achieve consonance” (Festinger). Stress and discomfort increases when there are conflict between belief, idea and values that are opposite.
Jackie’s dilemma in terms of cognitive dissonance Jackie Hartnett was a kind of person who believes in recycling the unwanted trash. Jackie’s interest on recycling started when she was in school days. She was wondering what happens to the paper put in the trash pail. After learning that those things could be recycled, she implemented a school wide recycle program where extra paper or waste were put in a separate trash pail and set it to recycling factory.
She was technically talented as well as her personal passion for well being of environment was also a positive point for her. Due to her talent and recycling interest she was hired in Dar Car Factory. Darf was very impressed with her recycling concept and encourage her to be a ‘green’ employee. Jackie join the company with great hope and planning her long term career goal in it. A year later when Jackie uncover the information showing served factory shipment of waste material being sold to another company, she quickly approaches her boss. But her boss refuses her proposal for recycling waste material saying that this will be an extra cost for them. Encouragement of a year ago turns into no value. She started to feel uncomfortable with the company. At this time, Jackie was in dilemma whether to leave that job or to continue with it. She got frustrated because her hope and trust toward the company had ended.
Change in Jackie’s perception for the company she works for Jackie had joined the company with a great hope and thinking a long term career in it. As she was very eco-friendly she had joined the company thinking that it is an environmental friendly company, Jackie was a very hard working and loyal employee. She was very enthusiastic towards her work and always had a positive attitude toward the company. But when she found that the waste material were sold to other company which didn’t even disposed it properly and the company is also not interested to recycle the waste products, her perception toward the company changed. She began to doubt in every activity of the company. She did not want to work for that company anymore.
Impact in her overall performance These all scenarios changed her view toward the company. Here are some impact that could have on her overall performance:
Demoralized: Jackie was unsatisfied with the company which had promised to support her in environmental factors one year before. This fraud behavior made Jackie demoralized toward her job.
Frustration: As she found that the company was not doing things right and against her perception she became frustrated to work in that environment.
Loose interest: Jackie gradually looses her interest to work for her company. She got irritate with her boss behavior as he turned his words which he had promised her a year before.
