The first quote is "On the outside, I'm a society girl wearing plainclothes. But underneath, I have skills and paper against my skin (Pg17)". She has become a long way since being a member of the Society. Now she is much stronger, experienced, and her desire to express herself and create despite the rules against self-expression. The second quote is "I've changed since I ran off the Carving and left the decoys to die. I've changed because of everything I've seen since then, and because of Cassia (Pg79)". Now Ky seems to have finally found something to be passionate about. He knows that by getting the cure, there is a chance he won't see Cassia. The last quote is " The Pilot. The Poet. The Physic. They are in all of us. I believe this. That every person might have way to fly, a line of poetry to put down for others to see a hand to heal (Pg508)". Each of those three represent one of them, Ky is a pilot and did what he could do to deliver the cure; Cassia is a poet, but also a leader in her own way; and Xander is a healer, but also a strong leader. This way the pilot, poet, and physic reside each of them to some degree, as they do for
