Catalyst for Excellence
Society and the economy have changed hastily and erratically over the past decades that has been very reflective to the general socioeconomic trends worldwide.
Nowadays, I must say if you don’t innovate and keep yourself updated you will lose track. Everybody aims to be on top and to get there? You have to be like a catalyst. A catalyst in chemistry is a substance that increase the rate of the reaction without itself being consumed in the process. Yes! Even though we are not chemicals in here, but we can still be catalysts of change and development in our community by being involved in research and development team.
So what’s with research and development that makes it very interesting as it is called a catalyst for excellence? We will answer that one in the next few lines of this essay. To have ourselves focused, we will only discuss the R&D in technology to fit in to the need of individuals, society, environment and economy. R&D is widely defined as involving the full breadth of concept creation, technological invention, market cultivation, and operation in utilization of products and services. In conventional R&D, the processes of concept creation before research and operation in utilization of products and services after development have been inadequate. (Mori, Kinji)
To give us a little background of what R&D do for us, we will discuss important points on what they do. There are actually four factors to consider when we do R&D namely needs, subjects, situations and evaluation. Needs- why and for whom R&D is necessary? Subject—what to focus on for R&D? Situation—when to pursue R&D? and
Evaluation—how to direct R&D? As you noticed, these four must be known for us to do research and development. So say for example, the emerging need and/or want for monopod during selfie or
