The Civil War was one of the most deadly wars america has ever seen. There were many causes leading up to the war, and consequences after. some of the main causes were: slavery, economic differences, and the differences in civilization. The years after the war were some of the souths most rugged years the consequences would be fatal. The consequences were: Slavery was banned indefinitely, the united states were a unified country, and many constitutional consequences. Many people knew that the Civil war was definitely going to happen. Neither the north or the south would budge on any of their views. Many people can argue that slavery was not the main issue of the Civil war, but in my eyes it was definitely so. Slaver was the thing that tied all the other causes together. If slavery was abolished there would definitely not be a civil war. President Lincoln said that his main goal was to preserve the union, but if there were no slaves the union and the south would have possibly been great business partners, with the norths large factories and the souths large cotton industry. …show more content…
The south struggled during the war because its only crop was the cash crop cotton. This provided no food for the soldiers during the war, so the south was constantly having to scour for food. Cotton only provided money to only a limited amount of people. When slaves were declared free the cotton business basically shut down.
