Cbk Program Research Paper
I am being profoundly blessed with the opportunity to be in the CBK program. This program gave me an open door for another chance to go exceedingly far in my life and not only make myself proud but my family as well. My ultimate goal for this year in CBK is nothing more than to graduate and go to college. In order to obtain my goal it is mandatory to set up strategies for myself.Without them it would be nearly impossible to accomplish the program and fulfill the commitment I have made to myself. The strategies that I have picked were thought about in great depth to figure out what was best for me and they are ; staying motivated, giving one hundred percent every day, and prayer. Have you ever felt like it was thursday but it's Tuesday? The week is going by so slow and you just want it to be over. I’m …show more content…
Not a lot of my relatives have gone to college and if they have they didn't go far. College gives a person so much pride and would give me ten times more because i'm african american. It is a known fact that black women from ages 18-25 are most likely not enrolled in college.I want to break the cycle and set an example for the younger people who look up to me. From experience I know half way doing things is not setting yourself up for the real world. Most likely it will not generate valuable work to your professors when you get into a college. Older people than myself constantly say it only gets harder as you get older. Logically why not do the best you can possibly do when you are able. It was not by chance that I was presented with this miracle, so it is only right that I give my all and make sure I go above and beyond. When people look at me, I want them to see a hardworking girl who they wouldn't mind helping out because they see my diligence and

Going to college has always been a goal to myself. Personally, it means more than expecting to get a good job with a high earning potential. It means the opportunity to develop myself as a person and become a valued member of society. It means, that as the oldest brother and first generation in my family with the possibility to attend college, setting an example for my younger siblings about how to shape your own path and break that mindset of “do what you have to do” and replacing it with one which says, “do something that makes you happy.”…

Growing up my parents would have been proud of me graduating high school alone. Since I knew that’s all they really cared about at the moment, I never gave myself a true thought on what I wanted to do or become because I was just focused on graduating and nothing else. My second year of high school is when I was told by my counselor Mrs. Davenport that I should join clubs because it would look better on my application and resume for college. College was something that I never really discussed with anyone because no one in my family talked about ever going, yet I had a feeling that Mrs. Davenport knew what she was talking about. I then decided that since I’m doing track and can handle school, why not try an academic club out. There were so many clubs I could join, but I did not know what which club I would belong to. I honestly just choice one that I thought would be a smart…

Both of my parents went to college and both of them also went on to get a post-graduate degree. To them a college education is a necessity to be successful in life. Neither one of them expects me to get into or go to Harvard or Yale, but they do expect me to go to a respectable college. Some teenagers often do not go to college because they must get a job to support their family. Thankfully my parents have always said that I do not need to get a job until after college. The academic and financial support my parents have provided me has cause me not to think of college as a unattainable dream, but almost as another step in my educational , similar to high school or middle school. My parent’s knowledge of the college and the admission process has taught what I need to do in order to put myself in a position to get into a respectful college. The advice and knowledge from my parents has taught me not to just worry about my grades because colleges do not like book worms. Colleges like kids who show they can manage many activities while still maintain a solid 4+ GPA. This attitude has been a positive for me because now I am in many extra-curricular activities including playing Varsity lacrosse, being on the Academic Bowl team, and playing two instruments. Without my parents I could most definitely see myself being a book worm, but thanks to them shaping the attitude that colleges look at more than just grades I have become more outgoing. My parents influence on my view n attitude of college has most definitely been a positive one, and thanks to them, so far, I have been very…

I agree with the speaker because in my own personal experience, I have learned that you must be proactive and strive for what you want in life. Through my high school and college years, not only did I succeed in passing my classes, but joining extracurricular activities brought more chances in deciding options for my future. In addition to that, I was able to be a part of a health occupations class where I had a chance to meet many people in different fields. Even though this specific class was not required and I had more work to do, taking the class allowed me the chance to open up more of my options and getting my name out there. Currently, I have made the decision to go back to school so that I may have more opportunities in my future to possibly go into a specialty field. I know that if I do not work hard and remain where I am, this will be all I know. There will not be any chances for me to go further or…

In choosing branched chain amino acids for my ergogenic aid project, I took a few different things into account. When looking at the list provided to our class for this project, I told myself that I wanted a challenge. I wanted to work on a topic that I knew very little about to begin with. Some of the choices off of the ergogenic aid list seemed to easy and broad. Options such as protein and alcohol would seem to be rather easy and bland. To begin with, I had heard of amino acids and branched chain amino acids. However, I knew next to nothing about them. Instead of covering the broad topic of all the amino acids, this topic allowed myself to go deeper into examining not only amino acids themselves, but as well as branched chain amino acids. I find sports supplements to be quiet interesting and I knew that supplements were out there for branched chain amino acids. Examining the theories behind these supplements as well as examining the test studies behind them has always been intriguing to me.…

Most teenagers roll their eyes every time their parents tell old college stories, but to me, having parents who attended college would be a blessing. Neither of my parents have any type of post-secondary education, and this has caused struggles in my life. As a college-bound individual, I have come across many questions that my parents have not been able to answer due to their inexperience. Searching for college and financial aid information has been left primarily up to me, which is a tough task for a seventeen-year-old to take on by herself. I am left feeling overwhelmed from the amount of new information I have had to learn and apply to college and scholarship applications. One goal I have set for myself is to further my education after…

You may be the first in your family with a college degree. You may have borrowed money and now have loans to repay. You might have worked and/or were raising a family while attending college. Some of you probably had some type of disability to surmount to complete your degree. I find it interesting to note, as a faculty member who interacts with a wide range of students, that many new college graduates believe that they worked hard in college, and now, they are ‘owed’ something. It is likely that you hold the belief that you deserve a job, respect, and happiness (whatever.) On the contrary, educated people owe everyone else. It does not matter how you hard it was to earn a degree. You have become one of the educated minorities. It is now your responsibility to help others in some way. With that comes an ominous responsibility to the rest of society. And, remember, much of your success is due to what was given to you – the part you did not earn. How well will you do with the part you did earn? Be the best at what you are. Be honest. Others should be able to count on your knowledge and integrity. Do not ever take advantage of others. You will be…

Neither of my parents finished college or got any degree past their high school education. I, on the other hand, have always dreamed of going to college, specifically Harvard. I knew that after highschool I would move away to a big college where I would get a fancy degree and then become extremely successful and earn exuberant amounts of money. As I have gotten older, though, the realization of the cost of college has started to weigh on me. In a family that only makes a decent amount, the Early College Program is perfect. This is program can allow me to have the opportunity to get an associate’s degree by the time I’m 19 and be able to do it completely debt free. Saving that much time and money will…

College success is very important to me, I want to obtain 2 degrees in two different areas of study. That being said, I will soon be doubling up on classes as to graduate earlier than planned. I will have many assignments that I must keep track of, and submit all of my work on time.
