Change Challenge Reflection Paper

Throughout history many people have looked to have an open dialogue with God. The reason behind this many people feel that forces are out of their control and so they seek help from a supreme being. There is irrefutable evidence that God exists and has a close relationship with his people. Unfortunately as humans we are not self sustaining like God, sometimes we need help whether that be going through a tough time or just want to get to know God a little better. This dialogue that we have with God is called prayer and it is one of the most important elements of any Church but most important to the Catholic Church.

After the recent events around the world, such as the numerous terrorist attacks and threatening natural disasters, individuals are left to cling to their religious beliefs for comfort and encouragement to press on. Some of these events have encouraged division between cultures, since many of the terrorist attacks are done in the name of their god. After the 2001 attack on the twin towers in New York, and the Pentagon, many people were leery of individuals who valued their Muslim beliefs. In fact, many Muslim worshippers were criticized and accused of having terrorist ties, when, in fact, the people who were actually responsible for the attack were extremists and radicals who took their religious beliefs and mixed them with their own demented thoughts. The truth of the matter is the act carried out that day does not effectively represent the beliefs of the common Muslim person. The rebuilding efforts are in full force today, with many people who have moved on and welcomed the start of their new life. It seems fitting that, in light of our…

Throughout the General Prologue, the Catholic Church is displayed as a very hypocritical organization and that is the reason that people and members of the church are starting to lose faith. It’s also an explanation as to why the world was becoming more and more corrupted and why people were not happy in their daily lives. They struggled from day to day to be happy and survive. The Black Plague swept through and took many lives and it angered each of the people. They never thought once that it could have been because of the corruption and hypocrisy within the church. The book of James in the Bible has a great statement about hypocrisy and greatly defines how the hypocrisy was affecting the rest of the people. It states “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that --- and shudder.” (Bible, James 2: 14-19)…

    9health Fair Reflection

On April 22, 2017, five classmates and I took part volunteering at the 9Health Fair. Before showing up we all were e-mailed instructions on the Health fair protocols for taking blood pressure (BP), performing Body Mass index (BMI) and pulse oximetry (02 sat). When arriving we all kind of gravitated to a station. I ended up working with Allie and Karen in the BP/02 sat Station. When the fair began, it seemed that we were pretty slow, so I volunteered to stand by the blood draw station informing patients where our BP/O2 Sat stations was located. While working the line trying to get customers to our station, I heard a thump. One of the people who had their blood drawn, stood up and then fell straight back to the ground. I watch as this…

The catholic church was powerful because it had been built up over centuries and relied on ignorance and superstition. This gave a priest enormous power at a local level on behalf of the Catholic Church. The local people viewed the local priest as their ‘passport’ to heaven as they knew no different and had been taught this from birth by the local priest. Such a message…

This two religions worship and pray to different entities. Catholics pray to Mary and think that Mary is the mother of God and that Mary is the mother of God and that she is everything. They have a saint assigned to each request and pray repeatedly. Protestants pray only to Jesus and know that he is the mediator between them and the father. Protestants do not worship any saint.
