Learning for me started to become a scary movie I did not want to watch. I did not want to see myself get killed by failure and doubt that I would never make it out alive. Malcolm X in “Saved” talks about how he had to teach himself how to be educated in prison and how he succeeded at teaching himself to read and write. this took a lot of ambition hard work and commitment to want to succeed. Perri Klass, in her essay “Ambition,“ talks about these same qualities, how ambition is working hard and following your dreams. However, people have to be realistic about some of their dreams and know how much they can handle. These two essays stood out to me because I have always had enough ambition to take it upon myself to learn and to teach myself…

Gallons of sweat trickled down my face while I seamlessly ran up and down the track. At times, I didn’t think I would get through it. It was an everyday struggle to continue my journey down the path of success. At practice, we would relentlessly run and run and run until our breathing neared nonexistent. I, for one, could barely keep up, but the fight inside of me did not die out. My coach would tell us that our meet was nearing and our will to win kept pushing everyone harder. We ran three to four miles a day with little to no breaks. He would yell motivational phrases to push us, but in all honesty, we just wanted to get back in our beds and sleep the day off. Although this is true, It became important to me to work to better myself and though…

I am very competitive so I am not going to stop until I am satisfied with the outcome. One can find my level of determination in everything I do. Being determined is not always about completing something first or being the best at something. It is about making myself feel accomplished with the outcome. Whether it is in sports that I am competing in or making myself get up and go to a class. Every time that I get out of bed and drive to school, I am shaping myself into a stronger individual that will be more successful in the future. I make myself go to classes because I am thinking about my future. If I bite the bullet now and take on all the hard tasks that get in my way I can have a more enjoyable life later. I am basically following in the footsteps of my sister. She is training to become a physical therapist. Becoming a physical therapist is not an easy task. If it was easy, anyone would be able to do it. I am fortunate enough to see the things that she did not do that would have been beneficial to her. I am able to better myself so that when I am in the upper level education courses, I will not have to fret as much as she does. I can prepare myself for the worst by taking on the worst now rather than later. This can either be for the upper education that I will need to partake in the future or the career that I will need to establish later in life. Success in building a healthy family and a…

Quote I chose that is more relevant in my life is "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." by Michael Jordan. What this quote means is that it is not about your lost of the game or whenever you fall, it is about if you get up after your defeat. You should never stop trying no matter how hard life can be, no matter how hard life pushes you down, you should always keep your head up. The last part of Jordan's quote is what drives me to achieve my goal even after I fail over and over. One must know what it feels to fail, and with numerous trials of failure then one will push himself harder next time. Those who are afraid to fail will never come close to their potential goal because failure is a motivation to work harder in the future. When we see Michael Jordan, we assume he is the greatest basketball player in history and how succesfull he became. But, the reason why he became very succesfull is because of his numerous amount of failure.…
