The Secret of Success Dedication and motivation can get people get far in life. Dedication is the secret of success for many athletes. All of the top athletes today did not get where they are now by just having god gifted talent. They got there because they pushed themselves for years and practiced their sport almost every day of the year. Motivation turns into dedication, and dedication turns into success. Lebron James is one of today’s top athletes, if not the very top. He is one of the greatest professional basketball players in the history of the sport; however, he did not get to that level by just being six foot eight and athletic. As a kid, James ate, slept, and breathed basketball. He would practice every single day and shoot over 1,000 shots per day. If that is not the dedication, I do not know what is. Lebron is now twenty eight years old and he still practices the game every single day. He could easily just stop practicing because he is already the best in the game, but he is dedicated to keep thriving to become the greatest ever. Athletes often get injured while playing the sport they play. It could be a major injury or it could be a minor injury. When it is a major injury, it takes a ton of dedication to get back to the way they were before the injury. For example, Adrian Peterson tore his ACL in December of 2012. The injury was suppose to last for about a year, if not longer than that; However he was dedicated to get his full health back, he was ready to play

football within 8 month. Not only did he play, but also he was the league most valuable player by the end of the season. He went to rehab every day for six months, which led him to do the impossible. Dedication does not only help athletes individually, but it can play a big role in a teams success too. When one player is dedicated to bettering him or herself, it can be contagious to the rest of his

LeBron James drafted directly out of St. Vincent- St. Mary High School, was the best pick that year. In his debut season with the Cavs he blew up and shocked the world when he ended it averaging 27pts, 5rbds, and 4st. not many NBA players can say they have caused this type of havoc in league. The Cavs went from one of the worst teams in the NBA to a playoff contender, and would soon have their chance at winning a world championship. The only time the new-look Cavs didn’t make playoffs was LeBron’s first two seasons with the team. During the seven year drought with this team they lost twice in their only finals appearances, to the Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic. The transition from high-school to the NBA is very difficult, because everyone is stronger, faster, and more intelligent. He handled the situation perfectly. Last OP I talked about concussions and the effect they have on people’s brains. Other injuries can affect the way a certain muscle can work. When you break a bone in your leg or tear something you need to do physical therapy. While you do physical therapy it can take a long time to build up the muscle you didn’t use. This is not good, if you keep playing sports that muscle will be stronger, but the downside is that the ligament may be more prone to being injured. Many players come back from a serious injury and then do very well. One instance was when Peyton Manning came back from neck surgery to set many records in the next season. This year Peyton Manning is sorely underperforming and was injured and isn’t doing well. There have been stories where he has immense…

Even though the world population, according to a statistic, will top to approximately seven billion in two years, the number of the preeminent sportspeople will still remain in rarity. It can not be denied that their successes hinge on, to some extent, something they are born with—strength, speed, flexibility, and the most important, passion. All of these contribute to their extraordinary performance that can not be trained by our ordinary individuals to reach the comparable levels. Take Yao Ming as an example. As an distinguished basketball player, Yao grew up in Shanghai, both his parents former basketball players. Growing in such “athletic” atmosphere, Yao exhibited exceptional gift for basketball the first time he touched basketball: the actions which made great demands on his peers seemed to be a piece of cake for Yao. In fact, Yao is such kind of people who are born to find their niche in the specific domain. Thus, it makes sense to pay huge amounts of money to the elite sporting stars.…
