Character Analysis: The Midland Academy
If you’ve ever visited The Midland Academy, you’d know that it has a family-like atmosphere. We laugh together even over the slightest things, not because anything is funny exactly, but because it’s just a very comfortable environment.
Everyone has their quirks and the people here are accepting of them. If you’ve had a ten-minute conversation with any of us, you’d know that we’re all a bit crazy. The thing is, that’s okay.
It’s okay to be different here, because there is no normal.
My class is filled with personality. There are people with strong personalities, strong opinions, and ambitious minds. It’s that kind of creativity and diversity that we need in America. We need people who aren’t afraid to stand out and we need people who aren’t

There are people that want to be lawyers, professors, and even kids that plan to president someday. As far-fetched as that sounds, just think about the fact that all of our presidents were once just kids who had crazy amounts of ambition.
My charter school is a place where having ambition is okay and it’s not hard to find people with loads of it.
Our school offers dual-enrollment for high schoolers who are interested as well as pre-AP classes for middle schoolers. This is extremely helpful for the kids who like to be challenged.
My school is a place where challenge is handed to you during you’re first week and it stays with you throughout the year.
In my eyes, there’s nothing wrong with challenge. If you have ambition and determination like most of the people I know, challenging yourself is easy. It prepares you for success and allows you to improve continuously.
My charter school is place where you’re taught virtues as well as academics.
The students participate in a monthly gathering called ‘CREW’ which stands for; Character Reflects Everyone’s Worth. During this one-hour gathering, we have an activity that either betters our school or the community.
Last month, some of the staff members would read their favorite books to the kids to encourage reading.
I honestly feel like the people here are exceptional, academically and character-wise for the most-part.
We’re all crazy, ambitious, talented people.
My school is where the exceptional kids hang

Feeling sorry for someone, but not agreeing with them. As humans we have all felt this feeling at least once in our lifetime. In the book The Awakening, by “Kate Chopin” Kate Chopin sympathizes with the main character Edna but doesn’t pity her. I agree with Kate, because even though she’s married with Leonce a man that she doesn't love and has children with him, she is still free not attached to him at all. Another reason I agree with Kate is that she doesn’t pity Edna. She spends time and loves Robert rather than loving her own husband.…

A Lesson before Dying is a memorable novel, set in Bayone, Louisiana in the 1940’s, about an uneducated, illiterate black man, Jefferson, who is falsely accused of murder and sentenced to death. While on trial, his defense attorney likened him to a hog, calling him nothing more than a fool and a cornered animal. Jefferson’s godmother wants him to become a man before he dies. She persuades two men, Grant Wiggins and Reverend Ambrose, to visit with Jefferson and teach him what it means to be a man. While both men desire the same outcome, they disagree about what it means to be an educated man. Grant believes that his college degree gives him all the knowledge he needs. However, Reverend Ambrose…

My ideal school is a school quite unlike any school we’ve heard of. This school consists of a large library and basic recreational facilities. And that’s all. There are no classrooms. The school motto is “I sought not to bring men to me, but to themselves,” a quote by Emerson. The school is built on the idea of active learning. No student is forced to learn. This is a much more effective way of learning. Students at this school can really pursue their interests. Most importantly, students at this school are not “institutionalized.” They do not obey and follow the school bells. They do not act according to a set schedule.…
