Chasers: A Narrative Fiction
While driving over to Chasers, Nola hit Ian with a barrage of questions regarding his existence as a vampire and his relationship with Natalia. Clearly, her interest in him extended beyond a casual crush. From the moment she first laid eyes on him, during the struggle inside Simone's condo, she had decided to delve deeper into the personal life of her newly found hero.

Fascinated by his distinct British accent, the fact that he was about as handsome as they come and willing to kick butt at the drop of a hat to defend her, made Nola want to get to know him better--a lot better.

Turning attention toward him, she said, "This all feels so surreal. I still can't believe what I just saw, but I know it happened. I can still feel his gnarly hand pulling at my hair."

That's why we have to stop Natalia cold. Can you imagine how high the body count will rise if we don't take her out? She is hell-bent on destroying the human race to satisfy her bloodlust, and she'll do anything to get what she wants."

Talking about Natalia was upsetting Ian, Nola could tell, so she decided to change the subject to get his mind off things. "If you don't mind me asking, exactly how old are you?"

"How old do I look?" he countered.

Staring at him briefly, she said, "Hmm, I'm guessing that you're about twenty-eight."

"You're in the ballpark. I'm thirty and have been for the past thirty years."

"I believe it. So, you haven't changed at all? You look great," Nola said.

"Thank you, love. I'll admit, being immortal has its advantages, but it's no way to live," he replied. "There's a natural cycle to life: You live, you grow, you grow old, and you die. Life get very lonely when you are cursed to go on indefinitely."

Nola considered his comment sympathetically. "Really, I never thought of it like that."

"Believe me when I say it ain't all it's cracked up to be," Ian added, shaking his

Loyalty is important quality to me and to my friends. I play for the Clearfield High baseball team I play with these guys and am with them most of the time. Tom wondered for what seemed to be the millionth time why Dectives were required to dress like wall-street bankers or stock analysts. At least that was the expectation in public, however the moment he had the office to himself, he unknotted his tie, slipped off the linen suit jacket, and undid the top button of his shirt, then sat back in his chair, raised his eyes to the ceiling, and tapped the tip of a ballpoint pen against his teeth. That was Tom's usual mode of concentration and contemplation, and so intent was the man's focus on the new case that all else slipped from his mind, even the recollection that he'd texted his wife. Therefore, the sudden familiar sound of her voice, accompanied by the enticing aroma of barbecue, startled him, and he immediately shot upright. The sight of Lila elicited a smile that only widened with the greeting and kiss. "Sorry baby."…

It had been a couple weeks since Dean got yanked topside, and he had finally built up the courage to visit the Roadhouse. He didn’t want to make a big deal so he just walked in and sat at the bar. “Whiskey.” Ellen was busy cleaning glasses. “I’ll be with you in a second.” He smirked. “Come on man, just a Whiskey.” She looked up with a glare that faded into shock within a second. “I said- Dean?” He nodded. “In the flesh.” She dropped the glass she was cleaning.…

Reading the story “The Chase” took me back to an event I feel if I had to judge anything that grossly affected my life this event without a dough takes the cake. Picture this am twelve years old and it is the first day of summer. It is the day my friends and I waited for all winter, opening season for swimming. Each day my friends and I took the long anticipated walk to the local swimming area “Lake Sona Vista”. On the park’s grounds there was a clubhouse made of grey brick blocks. The house, or should I say clubhouse had a total of 6 rooms. The first room was the…
