Cheer-Leading Reflection
Cheer leading has impacted my life in many ways. Not only has it taught me who I am as a person but, it has given me the ability to experience people and their values from all different walks of life. By experiencing a plethora of different values I have become a more accepting person. With the acceptance that I have learned and I am learning I have been able to help people with many different problems they may be facing. These problems range from needing tutoring, somebody to talk to, or just want my opinion things. By helping people with their problems it has resulted in me being somebody many of the girls look up to on the team. This leadership role has shown me the limits I am capable of reaching and at times has pushed the envelope on

Leadership is a lifestyle, not a role one adopts. Leadership requires strength and power, but also the ability to empathize and recognize others' needs. As a high school student, I have had many opportunities to be a leader, whether it be through clubs, group projects, or extracurricular activities. During my Junior year, I assistant directed the play Steel Magnolias under the eye of my drama teacher as well as a college student director. This role allowed me to learn the ropes of directing as well as take care of the six girls cast in the show. I adapted the role of the "stage mom," making sure every hair was curled to perfection and every prop was in its place, as well as ensuring their lines were memorized and their staging was proper. I…

In high school, I was involved multiple clubs and groups varying from athletic, academic, and artistic. Overall, the school’s marching band color guard had the largest influence on my personal growth in during the time. At my school, all color guard members are required to complete one season of marching and playing instruments with the band before being allowed to join the guard. Therefore, it wasn’t until my sophomore year that I auditioned and was accepted into the color guard which I participated in for the rest of my high school career. Because there was no recognized team captain, all the girls were expected to step up as leaders not only for themselves but for everyone else as well.…

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

There are very few people who are lucky enough to be a captain of a team. I am one of those lucky few people. On April 12, I had an audition to try out for a Color Guard Captain position. I had been waiting for that day since early February. On April 15th, the captains were announced. I heard my name, looked at Makayla Hurt, she heard her name, and we could not believe it. Over the weekend, I thought what can I do to help improve the team. Well I can improve skill, change attitude for the better, and how will the decision I made along with our coach of me being a captain affect the team.…

When it comes to demonstrating leadership, I can lead people and motivate them to reach for goals that they might think were beyond them. I wanted them to accomplish more than they thought was possible and to do it not because they need to but also for the fun of it. My experience with being a leader in the groups that we did was a great learning experience. I learned a lot not only about myself, but also about what it is like to be the leader of a group. Leading a group was harder than I thought it would be and knowing how to start, what activities or techniques to use and what to say or do next was also harder than I thought.…

On and off the field, I knew my role was to lead our class and team. From the weight room to the track, and even in the classroom, I lead by example and empowered others on a journey unique to each person. Teaching freshman, and staying after practice to help those that needed it, helped me realize the uttermost selfish thing we can do is believe our actions only affect ourselves. Everything we do affects someone else for the better or for the worse. There is no other environment that lends the same leadership opportunities and experiences than that of a football. I can truly say that without playing football in high school, I would not have grown into the person I am today, nor possess the same intellectual characteristics. I am grateful for all experiences, whether seemingly beneficial or adverse, as it is the conglomerate of experiences that makes us who we…

I am a great leader and throughout my high school career I have taken every opportunity I could to display this. For three out of my four years I have participated as a Muskoka Woods Leader. This required me to spend a week at a summer camp at which I would lead a group of grade 7s through a series of fun activities. Being a leader at this camp wasn't always fun and games though. I had encountered many situations with the grade 7s in which I would have to improvise and apply my knowledge of leadership to sort out. For example, during one of our games we would play, there was a little boy who was sitting off on the side not participating. I went over to talk to the boy to find out what was wrong. When I found out that he didn't understand how to play the game I knew exactly how to fix it. I brought him over to a corner and me and him played our own little one on one version of the game. I taught him how to play and I played with him until he was finally ready to join the other grade 7s. As well as being a Muskoka Leader, in my grade 11 year, I was a Link Leader for my high school. This was different from being a Muskoka Leader because this time I was working with grade 9 students who were entering high school. Throughout the year I worked with the grade 9s giving them secret tips and tricks about how they could survive their freshman year of high…
