Child Abuse Child abuse is a critical issue in the 21st century. There are hundreds of children being abused everyday. This abuse includes physical abuse and verbal or mental abuse. The world needs to realize that verbal or mental abuse is just as bad and in some cases worst than physical abuse. Physical abuse leaves scars, broken bones and bruises just name a few, but all of these wounds heal with time. In verbal or mental abuse the abuser is hurting the mind, heart, self-esteem and overall self worth of the victim, therefore leaving a very deep scar that will last a lifetime. Verbal or mental abuse scars will also heal but with a lot of complications that may lead the victim to become an abuser as well. Verbal or mental abuse can include telling the child that they are stupid, useless, and dumb and all types of degrading remarks. It also includes mind games like telling the child they are not loved or that the child does not love the abuser because the child will not do something they are uncomfortable doing. In many cases this kind of abuse is not considered abuse because society has accepted the abuse as a way to talk to the child. People use the wrong language towards others all the time and verbal abuse has became part of society. Many people cuss at their children and feel it is ok but that too adds the lack of self-esteem of the child. The child has the free will that God gave them to fight back but many do not because they love the abuser, in a case that the abuser is a parent. The parent should know that this verbal or mental abuse is not good for the child but in most cases the abuser grew up being verbally or mentally abused themselves, therefore they see nothing wrong with it. It has become part of their lives and feels totally right. The abuser does not know any other way of life. They see no harm in there language toward their children.
