I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in. The mother started to yell at her daughter to stop while trying to strap her in. After a few minutes of the child kicking and screaming she was able to strap her in. But the child continued to scream, this was when the mother decided to leave the mall. My recommendation is that instead of trying to force the child into the stroller the parent could have held the child. In this lab, I played with a group of children when they were representing different characters. The children represented the Zompies character, and one boy came to me and said, “I will eat your hart”. Also, they played Ninga and they hide their faces. I helped the teachers to organize the classroom, and sat with the larger group when they play. I tried to help the children when they had conflicts with other peers and give them simple and clear instructions. In addition, I did a lesson plan to the children and they have to manipulate their hand by using clay to create their first letters, and I think they had interest with it.…
I observed Mrs. Collier’s first grade class at J.B. Hunt elementary on Thursday September 13, 2015. The classroom had a great climate and was decorated nicely. She had bright posters hanging on the wall as well as many colorful boxes, curtains, and chairs around the room. The desks were set up in one giant “U” with Mrs. Collier sitting in the middle. It was a great set up for the kids because they could easily see her and she could easily see them. The dynamics in the classroom seemed great because she connected well with each student and was interested in what they had to say. The three year olds gross motor skills, which are related to active play, consisted of throwing a large ball and running at a long distance to catch it, jumping up and down, climbing up the slide and jungle gym with ease and quickly. There was constant movement with the child in all the 45 minutes that I observed her and her level of activity was very high. It was hard to catch her at moment of stillness, and even then he would be fidgeting under the table or in her seat. Her fine motor skill included, using crayons and coloring a picture, and even though most of it was scribbles(which at this age they tend to do), she was able to remain inside the coloring picture outline. When I had first volunteered at a preparatory school as a teacher’s assistant, I was thrilled and excited. I enjoyed working with children and I admit, was slightly disillusioned with expectations that the children would be dutiful and effortless to watch over. I believe the most challenging aspect about this particular position is investigating a facility due to the allegations reported and properly documenting. When investigating a facility, one must be aware of their surroundings and properly multi-task because an investigation may involve talking to multiple individuals while receiving documents and presenting presenting facts. The main focus is to secure the child in that particular environment, by following all policies and procedures of the agency. This appeal to me because I've had a personal experience of child care negligence. For this assignment I observed four children, all of which have been given names of anonymity in order to protect the participants. Everyone has a first impression when they encounter someone in a new setting. When parents, guests, and residents first walk in the residence hall, it is my responsibility as a Community Center Assistant to make them feel welcome. I can make them feel welcome by having a good attitude and engaging in a positive conversation. I will be willing to answer any questions that they may have about Towson University and its beautiful campus by listening to the people and interacting with them. At the Helping House were was a total of 5 children. There were two girls and three boys. I had asked what the number of students was like during the summer and the total they usually have is about 10. When it came to the numbers of teachers altogether with 5/6 teachers, all were women. Each child was having one on one with one teacher. One girl child was in a play room climbing up ladders and jumping on the trampoline. One boy was outside playing. One of the oldest boys was practicing on his math skills. The youngest boy was waiting on lunch.
