The Gospel Message Linda Pickering September 12, 2012 APOL 101

Page 2 1) What are some ways the Christian gospel perceived in our culture?
There seems to be a few different ways the Christian gospel is perceived in our culture. Some people embrace it while others question whether or not it exists.
Naturalism is a view that God does not exist, and is divided into two parts: What is knowledge and how can it be known, and what exist and what does not exist.
Pantheism denies the existence of a personal God, and that everything goes thru a cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth. There is a direct relationship between animals, humans, and everything else that exists.
Theism is the belief that only one God exists. This is a personal and intimate God and relates to all mankind.

2 What are some specific moral reasons people may reject the Christian gospel?
Some moral reasons people my reject the Christian gospel is there seems to a divide in what people perceive as good and bad. Or what is right or wrong. Thus each man must determine for himself who actions are good and bad and what is right and wrong.
Another reason is that there is no genuine proof that the Christian gospel is true, why would someone accept the Christen gospel if it does not ring true, and is not supported by any solid evidence?
There is also the case of the predatory sexual behavior of the Catholic Priest. Page 3

Some people are simple looking for an excuse. Some people who reject the Christian gospel do not reject morality or the rule of law, they make their decision based on a belief that there is no God, and that Jesus did not perform miracles.
3 What are some specific emotional reasons people may reject the Christian gospel?
An emotional reason may be that they simple don’t believe because they can’t understand why if there was a God, he would allow some things to

First I will be comparing Christian worldview with The Crucible, there are many different Christian worldviews in this novel, the townspeople believe that every word there pastor says is the word from God, they follow the bible to the point they take every word of the bible literal, they go to church every sunday, if you sin it's a huge deal. Modern christianity is not like this at all, not everyone goes to church every sunday, nobody will get killed for believing a different faith, etc…. I am glad that we don't live in this christian worldview because if we did our whole society would change, you should make people believe in the bible…

William Fay begins the book, Share Jesus Without Fear by pointing out the underlying reason for evangelism. He argues that evangelism is not about bringing people to Jesus or “winning souls” but it is about obedience (p.3), motivated by faithfulness. Fay challenges believers about their “sin of silence” by pointing out that only five to ten percent of Christians have shared their faith in the past year (p.6). He argues that there are two groups of Christians: those who talk to the lost and lose who only talk about the lost (p.8). He encourages believers to talk to the lost and avoid the “sin of silence” and the lack of urgency concerning evangelism.…

Scientific naturalism is the view that our world is wholly a result of natural processes that can be explained by ordinary science, without the need to postulate intervention by a Creator. Naturalism is just a theory that tells the logical method to think by insisting that all creatures and occasions in the universe are natural. The story tells of a small boy, who, with toy wooden sword in hand, strolls off into the woods to fight unseen enemies, just as his descendants have fought real ones. Ambrose Bierce's Chickamauga is an example of the philosophy of Naturalism. The boy wanders off too far and becomes lost. He decides to lie down to rest for a bit.…

Naturalist believes if you listen to the airways of the universe you will hear a tree whisper the answer to life for them, believing they are one with the universe. Some who call themselves “evangelicals” argue that since the New Testament does not directly address the matter, we should not be dogmatic about it. They say that it is a “difficult moral issue,” where we need to allow room to differ and not impose our personal views on others. Many evangelical pastors refrain from speaking on the subject because it is controversial and potentially divisive. And many pastors dodge it because they have drifted from the Bible as the source of absolute moral truth.…

Some people have different beliefs and may believe strongly about those beliefs. Atheists do not believe in any gods, some, like Muslims for example, don’t call him God, rather Allah. Those who refuse because of their beliefs are subject to ridicule. And even then, some people who have different beliefs may be too shy because of this, and give in to the peer pressure and do something they don’t think of as right.…

    4. The Question of Morality – Morality is accounted for in Romans 13:8-10 which teaches us that all of the rules and laws can be summed up by simply loving one another. This teaches that love of one’s neighbor will find no harm done and be in keeping with just law. Likewise Mark 7: 20-23 sets out what constitutes evil and what should be abstained in order to live morally and righteously.…

Pantheism is the view that God is everything and everyone and that everyone and everything is God. Many cults and false religions have this same belief that God is everything such as an animal, a rock, the sun, a tree, you me etc. Pantheism is not taught in the Holy Bible of the Christians as we believe God’s omnipresence. In the book of Psalm 139:7-8 declares, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” This is where New Agers get confused yes God is everywhere at every time but it does not make him a tree or a person. New Agers believe that we are part of one substance as Power, Mind, Force, Principle and Universal…

We also have to contemplate the thoughts of identity when we think of Worldview asking ourselves “What does it mean to be of human kind?” and “Should we consider ourselves above animals?” Theists believe that God is a separate entity from oneself, as so are animals. As the Bible says “You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.” (Psalm 8:5) We also consider the thoughts that Male and female were both created “in the image of God” and were given the responsibility to rule over the animals and to be their caretakers (Genesis 2:15). Theists don 't believe we will be reborn into lower life forms or should worship the animals as the Pantheists. We believe we are to be caretakers of the animals and may benefit from the reaping of the earth such as natural resources and animals for food.…
