Christopher Reeve, A Model Of A Hero

In honor to our school’s Diversity Day celebration, I would like to make our community aware that disabled individuals are capable of many accomplishments. Christopher Reeve, mostly remembered as an actor portraying Superman, is a very good example of this. However, that is not the only thing he has done. He was paralyzed neck down after a riding accident and developed a different view of what a hero is. He says that a hero is someone who persists “in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” In an interview about him, “Still me,” he never calls himself a hero but his efforts to recover and work to help others has made him a model of what a hero is. He tells us that even though he is trying his best to recover, he still feels sadness and frustration
