Civil War
The American Civil War is one of the most momentous and controversial periods in American history. America Civil War during the years 1861-1865 was resulted in the social, political, and economic differences that can be traced to the first colonies and are exemplified in the conflict between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. These differences expanded over time to result in the divided country of the 1860's. At the time of the Civil War, the abolitionists had many conflicts with South. The conflicts between the Northern and Southern United States were state's rights versus federal authority, industrialization and agriculture, and urbanization and plantation. All of these conflicts made the North and the South have violent attitudes toward each other. First, social difference resided underground of the war. When whites moved into America, the immigrants' motivations were different. The New England settlers expressed their interest in religion. The New England's strong religious values and laws restricted settlement too far from the center of town. This strong pull inward encouraged the creation of towns, and it easily developed into cities. In contrast to New England, Virginia immigrants were interested in profit. The profit motive and the desire to find the fertile lands and access to navigable waterways which made it easier to get their product to market pulled the settlers outward. The North was focused on city life while the South was based on the plantation system. The population of the North gradually increased. This change in the North meant that the society evolved as people of different cultures and classes had to work together. Increasingly, the northerners became more polarized again slavery. Sympathies began to grow for abolitionists and against slavery and slaveholders. On the other hand, the South continued to hold onto an antiquated social order such as land owners and workers, slaves because the plantations were highly depended on the
