When I walked into my comp II for the first time, I looked around and saw that I did not know anyone in my class. So I wondered where and who to sit by. Since class about to start it did not matter where I chose to sit because as I mentioned, I did not know any of my classmates personally. When Mrs. Henry assigned us to get into groups to get to know the people in our specific groups, I saw this as an opportunity to change the fact of me not knowing anyone. I don’t mind talking to people to get to know them. You never know what you can get from making new relationships. An impressive one was that she was the first person in her family to graduate high school. Valerie attended Hot Springs High School. Being able to graduate high school was an important accomplishment because she was told that she wouldn’t be able to, so by graduating she feels very proud of herself. Another accomplishment is that she is a survivor of abuse. During this time of her life she fought through depression, but in the end she has come to know that she is and can become an important person and last but not least is that she has gained confidence and courage. One of the accomplishments, she is most proud of is that she is enrolled in college and is also the first in her family to attend college.
A few of her goals in the near future is to graduate with a degree in the criminal justice field. After she plans to transfer to Memphis state and become an attorney. Once she has achieved all of her academic goals. Some of her personal goals are to become independent to be able to take care of herself and her family. This was just a little bit of what I got to know of Valerie and hopefully won’t be the only things I learn and that more is to
