Period 6
Dear Barbara I. Dewey, * Introduction: My name is Quallan Phillips. I’m currently a sophomore at East, applying for your college. Penn State University is a college I have always wanted to attend. Everything about it has inspired me to do well in life. The type of culture around the college is just mind blowing.
* Academic Work: I’m achieving very good grades except for my meteorology. It’s a subject that I’m very new to and something that is actually very hard for me. I understand the material of the work I just have a hard time putting it down on my homework or test. I took that class so I can have a challenge in school. Yes indeed, it’s giving me a work out, but in the end I know it will be all worth it because I would have passed that class. Not with a D or a C passing it with a B or an A. Other than that class, I’m enjoying every single bit of all my other classes. I’m currently passing them with an A or B. I’m very well satisfied.
* Extracurricular Activities: I’m enrolled into JROTC, which I’m highly in love with. I’m glad to know that your university has an ROTC program and that’s one of the reasons I’m highly interested. My father was a Sergeant Major in the United States Marine Corps and I’m just following in his footsteps. I’m very well known around my school just from JROTC. As a sophomore, I’m already a 1st LT with 23 ribbons and 15 arc pins. Freshmen look up to me, as I’ve been told. I’ve learned a lot in just one in the JROTC program. Self-discipline is now a key factor in my life and I look up to it every single day.
* Community Services: I’m very well known in our community, not for bad reason just for remarkable things. I have about 200 hours of volunteer time worked in the community. I’ve built a great relationship with the elderly and they really appreciate me and I appreciate them as well. I am than respectful to them and they don’t worry about anything whenever I’m hosting an event.
