College athletes work just as hard as NFL, NBA, MLB, etc., and only roughly 2% make it to professional leagues. Since, very few have a chance to be at that skill level and get paid, college is a good time to earn that money they do deserve. In addition, certain kids have different talents. Not all of them are the smartest, most flexible, or the best artist. So, having sports, and succeeding in this category gives kids the confidence to work hard and know they can do well in something. It could also give kids a more fun four years and up of college. Being paid relieves the stress of finding a job. Specifically, imagine how many hours they would be spending if they also had a job. The football coach at Alabama make two million a year says Rush, U.S. news reporter. So still, college athletes get nothing when coaches get a couple million. Equally important, college athletes do have a small celebrity status, and can be considered employees. But what if you turn the question around, what would it be like if there was not any college sports? Well, billions of money would be lost, and billions of fans too. Jobs for adults would be lost, and the passion for kids as well. So, all the money earned from tournaments and games should be put towards the players bank
