It is quite simple when they explain the facts. It is explained that teenagers do not have to worry about paying a house mortgage, car payments or other bills and because of this they have more money to spend on anything that they wish to spend it on. They also still have their parents that will still spend money on them. Because of these reasons, teenagers is the age group that is the largest consumers. I enjoyed how the documentary then explained the entire reason why companies need to make their product “cool.” Teenagers are constantly trying to keep themselves caught up with all of the latest trends and what is considered “cool” to amongst themselves. Because of how difficult it is to know what the next trend will be it is important for companies to hire people that will go out and learn what is cool. The way that the writers present the information in the documentary is important because they present it in the form of facts. By letting…

In order to discuss the success of the Pepsi Refresh Project, we must first discuss the target demographic and the goal of the campaign. The target demographic of the project was the “Millennial” consumers between the ages of 17 and 27. The psychographic target was proactive individuals who displayed initiative and a genuine interest for improving their local communities. It was an age group of people who had just experienced the financial crisis of 2008 and yet still had hope and a need for change in the future. The goal of the campaign was to find a solution to the diminishing Baby Boomer consumers and the lack of replacement in the marketplace by Millenials. Research had shown that the Pepsi brand was seen as superficial. Pepsi wanted to create an image of a company that was not solely profit-driven, but wanted to gain Millenial consumer loyalty by demonstrating their desire to invest in their social capital.…

Effective marketing to specific age groups can leverage brands and products to create value and lift demand based on how individuals and groups within age groups perceive that the brand or product meets or exceeds both seen on unseen expectations. I personal fall into an age category called Gen-X. According to the website, hospitalityupgrade.com (2005), Gen-Xers are “sandwiched between the baby boomers (born 1946 and 1964) and Generation Y (born between 1981 and 1994). Gen X is the best educated and first technologically savvy generation in history. These people tend to have realistic expectations and a greater tolerance for diversity. Generalities aside, they do not see themselves as a collective force.” In my personal quest of brand and product selection, I find that my generational grouping influences my decisions, but so does my behavioral style and personal preferences, some of which are not always “lumped” into a Gen-X grouping.…

After the name is branded, advertisements and promotions are the next best alluring method. Offering a chance to win concert tickets or a celebrity encounter is a sure shot in getting customers. Advertisements should be flashy, fast paced, and targeted directly to Generation Y. Generation Y likes to feel special, not talked down to or insignificant. Offer customers gifts, let them know new style trends, and act as a friend—not a parent. Sell products that are unique. This enables kids to feel special, while sparking conversation amongst their friends, and bam—free advertising. Retailers should have at least one controversial product; this will allow conversation, yet again advertising your store.…
