Aged care services Australia group (ACSAG) is one of Australia’s leading aged care companies and consists of thirty five residential aged care homes across Victoria. ACSAG’s most important mission is their commitment to continuously improve aged care in Australia through best practices. Approval to conduct the field project under supervision of Julie Ellis, Director of research was approved by ACSAG’s executive director of nursing. It is a requirement that communication and sensory loss assessments are completed on all residents’ of ACSAG facilities on admission to identify any baseline communication and sensory changes and thereafter when any changes to the baseline occurs. A communication and sensory loss policy and procedure was created and implemented in 2010 to ensure that there is an effective program in place to identify and manage communication and sensory changes in residents and to ensure optimum quality of life and dignity for the affected …show more content…
