Healthy People 2020
Community-based nursing is a philosophy of practice that focuses care on individuals and families within a community. The primary goal of community-based nursing is to provide care with a major concentration on health promotion and rehabilitative primary health care through interdisciplinary collaboration for diverse population. Community-based nursing is based on assumption that individuals and families have primary responsibility for health care decisions. The primary goal of care is to encourage self-care in the context of the family and community. Healthy People is a program of nationwide health-promotion and disease-prevention goals set by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The goals and objectives are updated every ten years. The main objective of the program is to improve health of American people. It provides info and knowledge about how to improve health in a simple format so it can be used by many different people, communities, organizations, and groups. It is based on concepts of health promotion, disease prevention, and health protection. Four broad goals were set in Healthy People 2020: • attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury, and premature death • achieve health equity, eliminate disparities, and improve health of all groups • create social and physical environments that promote good health for all • promote quality of life, healthy development, and healthy behaviors across all life stages I live in ........ It is a rural area with a shortage of health care providers especially dentists, medical specialists, and mental health providers. It takes much longer to get the medical help of certain medical providers. People have to drive to University of Iowa which is located to ..... It takes about one and a half hours to get there. Many of our residents don’t make it there due
