Especially when directing attention to the characters in the movie, overall the personalities and motives of each character match accurately in the book as well as the movie. The main protagonist Carl Lee was depicted perfectly in the movie, with every action being exact, from him notifying Jake of his crime scheme for the murder, to how he plays out the father figure role, and shows true emotion about the trial just as detailed a the book. Jake Brigance in the movie matched the same procedures the Jake in the book executed in the trial. Jake requested the trial be relocated, hired a cheap physiatrist, and processed the same thoughts on Carl Lee Hailey in which he should be released. At the beginning, Tonya, Carl Lee's daughter was found by her brothers when they were already out , and it did not take their mothers growing worrisome to ask her brothers to go scavenging for Tonya. Another major plot difference that was listed, was the fact that everyone at Billy Ray Cobb’s and James Louis "Pete" Willard’s trial witnessed Carl Lee murder the two men instead of there being one witness which was the janitor of the courtroom. Although this may be true, this event explains more of the extreme publicity, if Carl Lee did commit the murder in front of a packed courtroom. Speaking of the shooting, although the characters included in the movie were depicted in a flawless manner the character known as K.T “Cat” Buster, the one that gave Carl Lee the gun and who Carl Lee considers his best friend was not included at all. These contrast seized my eye mainly due to the fact they contribute to the evidence of the trial which I believe would be the main event in A Time To
