This can be the same way like comparing and contrasting our commuittee and jonas society. There so many ways you can compare our commuittee and jonas society. One good way is that we have high power people and also in jonas society. In our commuittee there these people who called judges who have high power. One way i see it is that we have more freedom then jonas people have in his society. For example, in our commuittee we basically go whatever we want with no one but, in jonas society you really getting watch and have less privates what i call being free. see in jonas society there cameras and recorders the head people put all over to watch and listen to what the people do. Even though this society can be the same it also can be different like twins , they look alike but therer something different about them. There other ways our commuittee and jonas society can be compared. One way is that jonas society and our commuitte have laws for mostly everything. In our commuittee we have laws, a lot of them and they always have problems when you brake them. Also the same way in jonas society, there laws and there problem when you brake them. That even worser then runing into a wall and nock all your teeth out. There also other ways our commuittee and jonas society can be also different. In jonas society there not real families like we have families. If you don't know what i mean , i mean in jonas society there two people that is force to be together then they get a random child. Now in our commuittee it's totally different because you get to be with who ever you want and when you have a child you get to have your child. Can you see how different how are commuittee is then jonas

Jonas is the main character in The Giver by Lois Lowry. In Jonas’s community it’s natural to be doing everything the loudspeaker says, it is the way to surrvive. Only Jonas and the Giver can see in color. Everyone in Jonas’s community thinks it is natrual that the leaders can listen to every conversation. All adults have to apply for a spouse and children. Which means you get assigned to a family unit. Not very many people are even aware there is much life outside of the community because it is so closed. But, most of all no one even knows that when someone is to be released it means you are killed with euthanasia, except for Jonas and the Giver. No one even knows of the concept of death.…

Jonas’s world is called perfect. No feelings, no real knowledge, no animals, nothing special; that is the “perfect” world that Jonas lives in. Would one consider that perfect? After receiving memories from the Giver, Jonas learns so much about life he did not know, and he no longer thinks of his world as perfect. In the novel The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas learns the power of pain, sorrow, and joy through memories he receives from the Giver.…

To start off, the book The Giver compared to my normal living society is very different. The Giver has a very controlled life style. They are not able to make any choices for themselves; it’s all made for them. As of our society, it’s more free-willing and not as controlled. We are able to make our own choices. The way families are made in Jonas’s society is different than our society. Also, the way birthdays are celebrated is pretty odd too. They live a very different life than I do.…

Chapter 1 and 2 in the giver, we found out that Jonas lives in an equal community. Jonas community encourages sameness, and discourages diversity. The community is unfair for the age for someone when they receive items and their family units. On page 13 lowry writes, “Two children — one male, one female — to each family unit. It was written very clearly in the rules.” This is very unfair for everyone because people like to be different, and not the same, but with this rule the citizens can’t. It’s dull being the same, for example, if you meet someone and they tell you about their family, you will already know if they have a brother or sister, depending on their gender. Another way everything is the even and the same is when the citizens…

In other words, Jonas is not happy with the rules he wants them to change, he wants to see change. Even though, the novel The Giver by Lois Lowry and society today have plenty of similarities, they also differ in some ways. Some of these differences are strict rules, age limit to when you officially became an adult and the difference between colors. Although, in society today we must follow many strict rules, we do not follow as much as what the characters in "The Giver" had to.…

As we read The Giver, we gain a deeper appreciation for our society and how it doesn't physically force us to be all the same. Since sameness was applied to Jonas's community, he couldn't comprehend what color was. Memories and emotions he received from the Giver were all new experiences. Also, after seeing the release of a twin, Jonas realized that in order for human beings to have a mind consciousness, they need to have differences. As we advance into the future, we humans may lose our identities from the major technological leaps; and so, we have to be aware and not overdo things to the extent of us losing who we…

In the beginning of the book Jonas thought Sameness was the only thing there was. (p.16) “ It was one of, the evening telling of feelings.” This is a tradition in Jonas’ community where the family share all their feelings at dinner time and it’s normal to them. Jonas also thinks it's normal that there is no animals and everyone has the same birthday. (p. 120) “ We relinquished color when we relinquished sunshine and did away with differences.” So Jonas’ community thinks that it's normal that they don't see color. That’s how Jonas sees his community at the beginning of the book.…

Another example of their similarity is that there are loudspeakers everywhere in both Jonas’ world and North Korea. They all spout a nearly constant chatter about the affairs of society. In North Korea, though, the intent is pure propaganda; it’s nearly all lies. Pure and simple, in North Korea, the loudspeaker is an organ of the state utilized to further the brainwashing of the citizenry. In Jonas’ world, the Speaker (through the loudspeakers) alerts the citizens to matters that will either help them to become “better” members of society or direct them regarding what they must do to be safe.…

Would you rather live in Jonas’s society or modern day society? I would want to live in Jonas’s society and modern day society, at the same time because in Jonas’s society you don’t get hurt, but in Jonas’s society you have a lot of differences from modern day society. For instance, in Jonas’s society you have to share your birthday with your whole community. In modern day society you don’t have to share your birthday with anyone. There rules and laws are different to, if they do something they know they're not supposed to do they get released.…

Jonas is constructed to convey ideas about society by his speech, thoughts, actions, appearance, interaction with others and his name. We first see this when his sister, Lily says to him, “He has funny eyes just like you Jonas!” Most people in the community have dark eyes but a few have pale eyes. This is because The Community is trying to get sameness, by making everyone have the same eye colour. The next thing we read is that when he is playing a simple game of catch with his best friend Asher, the apple they are playing with changes for a second it seems to Jonas. When he asks Asher about it Asher doesn’t see anything strange. This is when Jonas is first seeing colour. Colour has been taken out of The Community because it creates individualism and creativity, which could create envy or jealousy, and jeopardise equality. Another idea is precision of language, which in fact is very imprecise. We see this when Jonas asks his parents “Do you love me?” he is then laughed at and chastised for using such “imprecise” language, and is recommended to say “Do you enjoy me?” instead. This is because The Community wants the people to be non confrontational and does not condone the expression of real feelings, it is almost vague. We also see that his name, Jonas in the bible means “To bring misfortune and a great tempest on his companions”…
