Spanish government would relinquish the sovereignty of Cuba, and ceded the lands of Porto Rico, West Indies, the island of Guam in Marianas or Ladrones and Philippine Islands to Unite States. Unite State then would give 20 million dollars to Spain as the humane reparation of war. Last but not least, upon Spain evacuation, Cuba would be officially occupied by Unit State. It indicated that even the Spanish-American war had ended, Cuba didn’t fulfill its goals of achieving independence status. Sixteenth article were also regulated the relationship between Cuba and Unite States. It regulated that even if Unite States had ended its occupation toward Cuba, any government established in Cuba were advised to assume and follow the obligations in this treaty. Therefore, Cuban not only achieved independence but also had to obey the rules which weren’t made by themselves. Fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth articles were dealing with the post-war problems.
