Beach – day” “and Jack runs up, finally stopping dead in an extreme close-up.” These are stage directions referring to setting and camera shots. Next in the script we can read “in the same shot, we pan as he moves 180 degrees until we’re behind him, looking out on something absolutely horrific. Only twenty yards away….. There is also screaming, which is an intrusion of diegetic sound and there was roars of jet engines. In the script there is a lot of wording that hints towards the setting. “And it is like ******* warzone: scattered fires and wreckage” refers to how much of a mess there is on the beach and how much of a disaster has occurred. During the script there is also a lot reference towards the production features with added sound and special FX. “Cries drowned out by the sound and wind caused by the enormous jet engine” at this moment in the script there is big hints of disaster and also frightened people. The language used in the script is descriptive however not as much as lord of the flies, it descriptive for a script however nowhere near as descriptive as Lord of the Flies. The script then reads “SPASTICALLY, ERATTICALLY, SPEWING COOLANT and SPARKS and SUCKING in SAND every time it THROTTLES UP” after reading this it is really exaggerated; the danger of this beach and how scary it would be to be there, almost all of the text is in capitals and so, there is so much danger in just one little scene and setting.
