For example when there is a natural disaster people are typically more helpful than harmful. One of the most recent examples is the two hurricanes that hit the south-eastern coast of the United States Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. These hurricanes destroyed many thing and even took some people's lives. This is where we humans came into play as the nice loving people we are. Many people around the world came together
donating food, water, shelter, and most importantly millions of dollars. Though money is the last thing people were concerned about it was definitely a big help in rebuilding the cities that were massively destroyed. This a big example as to why Locke’s theory is far more reasonable rather than Hobbes, granite Hobbes does lead a very compelling theory I don’t fully agree that the vast majority of people are jerks.
There is no doubt that people come together in times of weather tragedies, but they also come together in times of a crisis such as the Boston Marathon bombing or the attack on the Twin Towers. These two events were life shattering events that our nation will remember forever, and in these major events not only Americans came together to mourn but people from other countries helped us mourn as well. This just comes to prove Locke’s Theory to be more true. Humans are emotional and sensitive, now some may be far more emotional/sensitive than others but there is a small portions of those feelings in everyone.
When comparing these theories i’ve come to side with both of them but mostly with Locke’s. He is very convincing and I can understand why he says what he does. Humans are immaculate creatures and they care very much about others and most importantly the well being of others. This is the main reason why I agreed with Locke.
