As a preschool teacher I support my children’s physical development by playing an indoor game such as leap frog. Where my children stand in a line and the first person in the line ducks down on the knees like a dog and the second child in line leaps over like a frog. The children continue to do this until the first who gets to the finish line. The children enjoy this physical activity very much. This activity is perfect when the weather outside is not so good. When the entire class is playing together and making a good team, is when I know that this activity is a keeper. When the weather is good and sunny outside I love the game tag! My first few weeks of classes at UW-Platteville have surprisingly been fun and brought many opportunities of clubs I did not think I would join. When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. In order to be successful in a career, an individual must understand their strengths and weaknesses. While competency is defined as being qualified to perform certain tasks, understanding your competency in evaluating arguments will qualify you to build stronger arguments. Knowing your competencies helps you to evaluate arguments because you are able to gauge the if they are the product of logical reasoning or personal bias. Jodi Davis has been an inspirational role model as a social work educator. She was just always real with how it really is out there in the field. She let us know that the information we learn is genuinely important, but it is not what is in the field when you get done with school. She gave us the need text information, which was of course all, but she introduced us to some of the elements we could face. Core competencies are the collective learning of the organization and the guiding parameters for new markets and diversification. A company with core competencies, will be able to create more value. The process of developing core competencies starts with the strategic intent of being a leader in the market by leveraging the resources which requires three investments, technology, governance process, and collective learning. This concept points out to identifying various opportunity gaps.
