Composition 101 Reflection
I am presenting to you my three major papers that I wrote for my Composition 101 online class. The first paper that we had to write was a literacy narrative, it didn’t need any research but we had to remember a time that made our reading or writing experience memorable. Our second paper that we had to write was a Cause and Effect Essay, we had to do a little research to get information. I chose to write about stress and how it can affect academic success. Our third paper was a Persuasive Commentary, this one I chose to write about volunteering. The goal for this paper was to give information to people about how volunteering can better your life especially the youth. I will be providing you with information of my strengths and weakness in …show more content…
I really liked this paper because it was based on personal information and made me remember time that I forgot about. There were some errors in this paper that I could’ve done better. It was also a couple pages short but I could’ve really spent some time on it to make it better. If I had more time I probably could’ve improved my literacy, as well as my dialog and action.

This paper was written in MLA format, as well as my Commentary paper. The only paper that was in APA format was my paper about stress. I can say that I was a little confused on the APA format at first, but now that I looked into it better I understand it. I think when I change formats like that I get confused between the two. So, next time that I have to follow a format I will take my time and not wait till last

I chose this topic because when you talk to someone that’s been in school and is dealing with stress. They always tend to start taking less classes or drop out. So I thought that this was a really good topic to choose, but if I would’ve put a little more thought into the subject I could’ve picked a broader topic. Just because I couldn’t find that much information on stress. One thing that I like about this writing subject was the research, because I really like reading into things and some information helped me cope with stress I’m dealing with right now. This paper was one of my weak points, I thought because I didn’t do correct format I was supposed to and I rushed through this paper.

The third paper that I did was the persuasive commentary which I did about youth volunteerism. Youth volunteerism has a huge benefit on young adults and kids. It teaches them so much at a young age, and they can even use it later in life. I chose this topic because it helps you be a better person and citizen, while teaching you lifelong learning. This is something that I learned

This paper helped me grow as a writer. I found that I have a real strength in my diction, but I'm weaker in writing introduction and conclusion paragraphs. Knowing my strengths and weaknesses will help me improve myself in my academic future and grow as a person. My knowledge on the Vietnam War has vastly expanded and knowing this piece of history will help me make political decisions in the future. My isearch paper started as a struggle, I became very ill in the beginning of the writing process. Nevertheless, I believe that my isearch is well written and I am satisfied with the majority of my research paper. If I could change one thing about my isearch process, I would have been more organized in the beginning which would put me on the right…

To write an essay or paper in proper APA format, you need to be familiar with the basic rules of APA Manual 5 (2001). This paper explains basic rules of APA and simultaneously teaches by example. Think of the rules as a righteous standard for good writing (Gerdes, 2003). That is, it is a standard that gives credit where credit is due, and, therefore it keeps the writer from inadvertently committing plagiarism by plundering the work of others (Bastiat, 1850/1968). Webster (1828) defined a rule as:…

When it comes to writing papers, I usually have a difficult time getting started. I sometimes have trouble with certain topics, getting the general concept, and then turning it into a writing that will get my point across. I feel as if I’m not very creative with my words as I should be without sounding so scattered brained and lost. I was a little nervous when entering English 1102, after having such a difficult time in English 1101 online. At first I did feel at ease but once we got to doing research on a particular food and the articles, I did have some challenging moments. In in the end I did pull my works together and I plan on sharing some of my reflections while taking a look back on a couple of my papers.…

In prior drafts, I had not focused much on my audience, but as I read my paper, I realized that I could not feel a connection with the piece. The first paper I choose to discuss is my narrative, which was the first paper I wrote in college. I felt like this paper was going to be an easy task because I have written one before. I chose a topic that I knew I had allot to say about. In this paper, I expected to have multiple grammatical errors but I did not. I did not have a thesis for this paper because I felt one was not needed. Even in a revision of this paper I would have not added one. I chose not to revise this paper because I didn’t feel any revision was needed. I now realize that I could have revised it to get an A instead of a B+. To improve this paper I could have used more detail in describing certain scenery and certain emotions that I had in certain scenes of the story. I also could have added in more events to make the narrative flow together better.…

As I began English 111 this summer I thought I was a good writer unfortunately. I was not skilled in writing like I expected. As I progressed in in this course it has become evident to me I lacked the proper structure when formulating an essay. I essentially saw that I was going to need a lot of improvement when devising a good thesis statement and fixing grammatic errors. I also had to refrain from using sentence fragments to improve the flow of my writing. Despite, all the obstacles, I have developed the skills needed to formulate an essay. However, this course has given me the knowledge needed to succeed in writing many well-structured papers.…

One of the most important assignments in a high school student’s career is the Senior Paper. This paper can decide how a student will end their senior year. Obviously, this puts a lot of stress on the student and can make this paper seem like the hardest assignment they have ever had. It is very important, therefore, for a teacher to have feedback from students on how they could make this process simpler. From personal experience, I hope to give my opinions on how well the process was handled for my class and how to improve this process for future classes.…
