Conflicts Between Young And Old
In the short story "A Clean, Well-lighted Place" by Ernest Hemingway, there were several conflicts between the young and the old. This story had just a few subjects that are conflicts between younger and older generations. Such as the older waiter wanted to stay open for the old man and the younger waiter wanted to close the café.

One of the conflicts between the younger and the older generations is, Teenagers and college students do not have a huge demand for responsibilities. Most do not have families to support. Young people can do whatever they please. They do not have to worry about what they will have to do the next day. The older generations have a lot of responsibility, such as, they have to go to work to support their family, come home cook, clean, and be a role model to their young children.

Also, the older generations have a different view of life itself. They have experienced life first hand, they could have been in a war or the Great Depression. They know what how it is to have food rations and to fight for what they believe is right. The younger generations have to read about those events in history books and learn their own lessons. Such as, the consequences of their actions if they choose to "party till dawn" then have to get up for an eight o'clock class the next morning. They learned that it is not a good idea to do that, because they will not do as well in that class if they do not put there whole attention into it.

They also have to learn about their first loves, heart breaks and how to deal with them both. The older generations have seen all these, lived through them all and learned from them. Some of the older generations might feel they miss the "good times" and some do not feel that way.

Lastly, young people are not afraid to take risks. They will get up one day and jump out of a plane at 3,000 feet up in the air and plummet to the ground at 100 miles an hour and not think twice about it. The older people will think twice before they

Both X and Y generations experienced traumas that affected them and the growth of their fears. Such historical events were the Cold War and the collapse of the Berlin Wall in the Gen X, while our generation went through the war in terror and the 9/11. It stopped them from expressing themselves and reaching their goals in some ways. Basically, it kept them from reaching their full potential. E.g. the youth in Kosovo went through a really hard time during the war with Serbia 15 years ago.…

Not only does it affect us now, it will also affect through the span of our life time. So why not show the older adults and peers that we are not who they think we are. We are better. We show that it isn't just a person that can change the world it can be a team. Generation Y is an innovative generation of millenials that work together to make this world a magnificent place, a place of new ideas and creations. We are a generation that works smart, not hard and because of that it makes us look lazy. However, because of the groups we work in and how we get the work done, at the end it shows that we do work hard. Saying that this generation is always being lazy is a misconception. In regards to a personal connection, Edith is going to school full time and is working two jobs. She manages to keep her grades at a outstanding point and manages a social life along with all of her other responsibilities. Andre is a young man who also goes to school full time and once again, works at best buy along with many other time commitments. Allie goes to school full time and works as a certified nursing assistant along with many other commitments. This goes to show that this generation is not full of slackers and that there is hard working individuals that are part of the millennial title. We have yet to change everyone's mind but by taking one step at a time and using our voices to the best of our ability. We can change the…
