First off the people like greasers have a lot a problems and challenges that they often meet.In the article A Generation Struggling: Rich Kids are Losing by Dr. Brian Carr, Suniya S. Luthar says “it is widely accepted in America that youth in poverty are at-risk for being troubled and low family income is a major determinant of stress and problems.” (paragraph 2) This shows that people like …show more content…
greasers might also be poorer than the middle class. It also explains how we know that a lot of people like greasers have a lot of problems with money. In the book the outsiders S.E. Hinton said “Greasers can't walk alone too much or they'll get jumped,or someone will come by and scream "Greaser!" at them, which doesn't make you feel too hot, if you know what I mean.”(S.E. Hinton page 2) We can get why it is important for the greasers to get some popularity instead of none. This also shows that the greasers don't have a ton of popularity with other people. Overall this shows how people like greasers still have problems/challenges in life.
Hinton also talks about some of the problems/challenges that people like socs have. Hinton said “Wondering if I could get away if I made a break for it, I remembered Johnny--- his face all cut up and bruised, and I remembered how he had cried when we found him, half-conscious, in the comer lot. Johnny had it awful rough at home--- it took a lot to make him cry.”(S.E. Hinton page 5) By this we can see that people like socs think they have more power over poorer people and beat people up really bad sometimes. we can also learn that the people like socs think that they can bully most of the poorer people they want and can do a pretty good job at it. In the article Sentence in Texas teen's fatal DWI wreck stirs ire the author says “The teen and friends were seen on surveillance video stealing two cases of beer from a store. He had seven passengers in his Ford F-350, was speeding and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit, according to trial testimony. His truck slammed into the four pedestrians, killing Brian Jennings, 43, Breanna Mitchell, 24, Shelby Boyles, 21, and her mother, Hollie Boyles, 52.” This explains why people like Socs think that they can just buy there way out of trouble. This also shows how people like Socs don't get into trouble as often. In the end people like Socs still have challenges like every other person in the world does.
The author of the outsiders talks about how both the greasers and the socs both have problems/challenges.
S.E.Hinton says “Johnny had it awful rough at home--- it took a lot to make him cry.” on page 2 and also stated “I'll tell you something, Ponyboy, and it may come as a surprise. We have troubles you've never even heard of. You want to know something?" She looked me straight in the eye. "Things are rough all over."on page 34. This might explain why all the people that joined a gang chose to join a gang in the first place. By this we can also see that both of the gangs have trouble with their families and friends. In chapter nine of The Outsiders S.E. Hinton says “Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold..." The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died.” With this we can see that change is trouble for everyone including poor and rich people. This would also show us that both people like The Greasers and like The Socs have trouble with change. In conclusion both people like Greasers and people like Socs have some of the same
challenges/problems.
We all have our problems/challenges in life that we all have in common. Paragraph one states what kind of problems that people like Greasers face. Paragraph two talks about what problems/challenges that people like Socs face. Paragraph three explains the problems that people like the Greasers and Socs face. In conclusion both people like Greasers and people like Socs have some of the same problems/challenges.
