I volunteered at University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine over the summer. I gained first-hand experiences in using a myriad of scientific equipment, like incubators, water baths, shakers, and vortices prepared for study and research. Every day that I entered through the door into the lab, there was an overwhelming flow of unknown information that I wanted to obtain and understand. I viewed the experiments and research as answers to potential medical questions. This viewpoint will then be transferred to my future research studies in the Honors College. The information carries meaning that exceeds the classroom and advances into the real world. As a result, I would appreciate an environment, which includes my peers, my opportunities, and my advisors, that welcomes exploration and
