to know that I have such unwavering support from my peers, mentors, and faculty at the school.
As I now approach a new stage in life, the many dreams of mine have become ever more realistic than imaginative. With that, however, comes the burden of student debt and expenses. My admittance to USC has not only propelled me towards my aspirations but also placed me on, what I call, a “Road to 73k,” since that will be my total cost of attendance per year. Though stressful and a bit overwhelming, I hope to take advantage of all of my accessible resources and scholarships, where the NHS scholarship will undoubtedly ease my financial circumstances.
I have prepared myself for my future in all aspects of my life; I have made sure to push myself in rigorous classes, participate the most, discover the value in every experience, cultivate who I am as a person, join sport teams and ultimately lead them, surround myself with mentors, volunteer and gain experience, and be happy with my life. However, the one unprecedented aspect that I have little control over is my financial circumstance. I did not know that my father would stop working and rely on State Disability for income, and now my family’s annual income has significantly dropped relative to the last few years. Money runs the world, sadly, and I simply do not have enough of it, which is why I have taken this opportunity to apply for the NHS Scholarship.
Beyond the money, though, receiving this scholarship will prove to me that I truly have proved myself and made an impact on those at BCCHS. This scholarship is valuable, and I believe I have done enough to deserve it, and I can assure the Scholarship Committee that this value will surely be put to good use.
