I like the film “ Cool Runnings”. There are three interesting things in the film that we could learn learn from in life.
First, it is the determination. In fact, the greatest determination is that four young men living in the hot Jamaica country practiced hard bobsledding on the grass to complete in the winter Olympic Games in Calgary Canada. Furthermore, in order to go to Canada, they convinced local authorities with perseverance by knocking on doors to support them, and try to do everything in their might to earn money. In addition, they were real athletes but amateurs in the true sense of the word bobsledding. Without willpower, they could not have made it. Therefore, where there is a will there is a way. They showed true
willingness.
Second, it was amazing to see the solidarity. Indeed, bobsledding is not practised by one person but four people. They had to forget and forgive each other the past mistake. Furthermore, they had to unite and form a strong team to achieve their goal. Last but not least, one swallow doesn’t make the summer. It is the Jamaicans in the village that encouraged and supported them in their practicing. These people played an important role in gluing them together and letting them head for the Winter Olympics.
Third, it was touched by the sporting spirit. They came to the Winter Olympic with carefree enthusiasm and pure heart despite of being laughed at by other professional teams. All they wanted was just to compete. Moreover, the last touching scene that conquered the audiences’ hearts was four limping young men lifting the damaged sled on their shoulders and marching to the finish line. Not only did the calgarians but also the hostile competitors applauded them. The team didn’t win the game but they won moral victory.
In conclusion, the film has a humorous story and moral lesson as well for anyone to learn from. The keys to succeed in any situation in life are determination, solidarity and sporting spirit.
