Personal Narrative: All-Star Cheerleading
As an athlete, you only want success for your team. For me, all-star cheerleading was a mixture of success and anything but success. Everyone had countless of injuries, blood was shed, tears happened every practice. Everything is on the line with this type of sport. Just one mistake and the months of practice can feel worthless. It feels like a waste of time but it only strives you to work harder. In the end, the work is worth it. Generally, tryouts are at the beginning of May and from then until September you and your team have all of that time to practice your routine before your first competition . Even though routines are 2:30, it takes what seems like years to put together the perfect one. If your team has a national championship title …show more content…
It’s a feeling that is so indescribable even I can’t put into words how you feel. The day of the competition had finally arrived and even though my team was prepared, we felt anything but that. All we wanted to do was our best and hit a clean routine and make our coaches proud. Of course we wanted to defeat our rival, but that isn’t something you can have a mind set about. Right before we went on, we always have a group huddle filled with encouraging words and prayer. Once we hit the stage it was muscle memory. The enormous stage lights and screaming crowd was motivation for us. It’s like we were home. To say we did great was an understatement, we not only executed everything perfectly, we performed the cleanest routine we have done the entire year. Our hearts were so full of joy after hitting our last motion. The minute the music ended we all jumped for joy on the competition floor knowing we had done everything to our best potential. Awards arrived and of course, us and our rival team held the top two spots. The agony from waiting was nerve-wracking. The announcer finally got to announcing the second place team - our rival. We had done it. My team had yet another national championship title under our belts. They announced us as the national champions and we would be taking home jackets and a full-paid bid to Amazing, a competition for only the top in the state. My teammates and I were ecstatic about the victory, but also so blessed to have won it with our family.
There is a quote that describes any sport perfectly. “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” No matter where you come from or what you do, if you set your mind to it then it can be done. Surround yourself with people and friends who motivate you, and in the end, the work will always be worth

It was the middle of the summer and I was playing baseball in Jackson, Mississippi. I was playing for the Goodlettsville All-Stars. We were playing in the little league 10u world series. To get to the championship we had to win 8 games and it was single elimination. We had won 7 out of 8 games and we were playing our 8th game and it was the bottom of the third and I was playing left field. In the second inning I was felling drowsy so my dad gave me a Snickers and a Red Bull. I was for sure not drowsy anymore. I could feel the sugar rushing through my veins and I was on the balls of my feet waiting for the pitch to be thrown. When my pitcher threw the ball I had my hand in my glove ready for the ball if it was hit to me. WHAM! The ball was hit so far up in the air it looked like it hit the sun. When I realized that the ball was coming to me I was way too far back so I had to run as fast as I could and dive for the ball. I jumped as far as I could and stretched as far as I could. I barely caught it by snow coning the ball. Everybody was so proud of me that the screamed as loud as they could. We went on to win the game 4-1. The next day I woke up, jumped out of the bed, and put my uniform on. I was so excited, I was in the championship! I…

My coaches and my team members did everything they could to make me feel apart of the team, they made sure I knew of practice times, meet times, and team bonding. I showed up at every meet to cheer my team on, and still connect with the existing team members and the new girls. At the end of the year banquet, my coaches presented me with the most spirited award. Staying connected with my team, and not letting an injury cause me to fade away from my favorite sport and my favorite group of people became my biggest priority. The true dedication to my team is what won me most spirited and made me feel connected to my team.…

    Essay On NFL Cheerleaders

In the past three years, the NFL has faced a multitude of lawsuits dealing with the unfair payment of NFL cheerleaders. Multiple different articles support the cheerleaders, agreeing that an average of a $1,000 salary each year is unfair. However, other articles are against a higher payment, claiming that cheerleaders work because they enjoy the sport, rather than for the money. While Megan McArdle’s article, “NFL Cheerleaders Don’t Do it for the Money” uses informal diction, comparisons to other jobs, and concession to the opposition to support the claim that the cheerleaders do not deserve to be paid more, “Who Do We Under-Compensate?”, by Ira Boudway, uses a more formal diction, statistics, and concession to the other side of the argument to support the opposite.…

Now if you’ll excuse me, i’m taking your man, and later the title of ‘cheer captain’” I grabbed Isaac's hand and turned away from her walking to the tops of the bleachers. “You’re a fiery little thing aren't you?” He laughed and laid his arm around my shoulders. Asriel looked up at us and stared, as I smiled and grabbed his hand making sure she could see. “You know, she's always jealous. Even when no one does anything wrong. It drives me insane.” he frowned a bit and i felt my heart drop. “You should change that Isaac, you’re handsome, so smart, athletic and funny. You deserve so much more. She’s a witch, to you and everyone else.” I turned to look at him and he was already staring at me. “I- i’m sorry if i offended you Isac, it’s ju-” He cut…

At a normal summer camp, a few dozen fifteen-year-old girls wouldn’t be told to spend a night alone in the woods. Camp Cheerio isn’t a normal summer camp. I’ve been going to Camp Cheerio every summer since I was eight years old, and I’ve loved every second of being there. The summer before sophomore year of high school was the last year that I could be a camper. Part of being in your last year as a camper is doing CREW. The acronym “CREW” stands for Courage, Responsibility, Enthusiasm, and Worth. In CREW all of the last year campers do things such as team building, being a counselor for a day, hiking eleven miles to and from Stone Mountain, and more. However, the most significant part of CREW was doing Solo Night. During Solo Night, each…

My partner of eleven years is my greatest cheerleader. When I feel overwhelmed and depressed she gives me encouragement to conquer every challenge I’m faced with. In addition to my partner, another influential person in my life is a co-worker and friend. She fills the maternal role that is absent in my life, by giving me advice, different perspectives, and confidence. My career plays a vital role in my resilience, it gives me cause to wake up and achieve greatness each day. The children I work with inspire me to be a better educator, nurturer, and caregiver. When I am feeling depressed nothing lifts my spirits speedier, than my students. I believe it is a gift to have the availability to focus on constructing children’s strengths, rather than…

It was a fun game to watch, as we all thought about us playing on that court the next day. It was finally game day, and we had to play Stewartville, 2nd place from Minnesota. They were athletic, but we ended up winning the close match. Our next rival was the Bismark Thunder, 1st in North Dakota and last year's national champions. We were nervous since the were taller, stronger, faster, and just better than us. We lost to them, but we were fired up to play for 3rd place. The team headed over to the Target Center for the 3rd place game. Playing there was so neat, being under the lights, having them announce your name, and just being with the tam. We played Grafton, who placed 2nd at state in North Dakota. They looked like us, athletically, so we weren’t too worried. We came out with a bang, ready to play. Darby and Ellie pushed it up the court on fast breaks, giving us the early lead. Rilee and I played great defense on the post, as well as Marlee on the wing. Jenny came in and scored a couple before halftime. We were tied 17-17 at the half, and we knew we would have to work even harder. Halftime was over, and we played our hearts out the rest of the game. Mavis and Paige played great offensively, as well as Taylor on defense. We beat Grafton, 36-34, with Darby’s 1:00 left, 2-point shot. We were so happy that we had pulled off that win! We spent the next hour at the…

I don’t know exactly where I am going. Maybe this comes as a shock to those who think that because someone has good grades, they have their live figured out. It astonishes me just how mistaken this view is. Being born in Cuba I was limited as to what options I had for my life path. Consequently, the transition from one country to another when I was just twelve years old was very frustrating and tough. Somehow I managed to get a grasp of the language and progressively ascend from the lowest English classes to the most advanced in my school. I never failed to be hard on myself though, and I apply this concept to almost everything I do. However, this way of thinking has not come at no cost. My thinking process can be quite obsessive at times.…

Whenever I think back to highschool I am always reminded of the fun times I had playing sports. The friendships I built and diciplines I learned still affect my life today. Playing volleyball helped me learn good time management skills especially when I started playing for the local club team. The highschool team was demanding but when club season started that became your life. School, practice, homework, sleep was my weekday schedule. The weekend tournaments didn’t allow for much of a break either. A minimum of 4 matches and if you won the bracket, you could expect atleast 2 more. Putting in hard work and dedicating countless hours wasn’t all for nothing though.…

I was very excited and happy that all of my hard work in the batting cages and at practice was finally starting to pay off. I knew that I had to remain humble and keep working hard to be successful. My parents have molded me into the person I am today and I knew that I couldn't use this spotlight as an excuse to quit working hard. Our goal as a team was to make it to the state tournament. We ended up losing in the first round of sub-state. Losses and moments like that leave you with a feeling that you never want to feel again. I was determined to work hard to never get that feeling again and I am very excited for what is still to…

It was hard to decide my freshman philosophy statement but past experiences such as my high school sports career led me to select this specific claim of everybody having talent. The reason I chose this claim was because it spoke to me because It vastly related to myself and my high school sports career. I said in my philosophy, “It was Freshman year I sucked at everything and didn't play any sports”. Deemed untalented, I played Lacrosse for the first time and turned out to be decent. In addition to experience, sources from the internet structured the process of creating my project. For example, I had researched about the movie Sky High, which is about this kid who is told he's untalented by his gym teacher and some bullies however, he finds his talent. From there out on I had started to realise I wanted my…
