The ancient Greeks made lavish use of perfumes and cosmetics in their religious rites, in grooming, and for medicinal purposes. They built elaborate baths and developed excellent methods of dressing the hair and caring for the skin and nails. Greek women applied preparations of white lead on their faces, kohl on their eyes, and vermilion on their cheeks and lips. Marilynne Robinson is a Pulitzer-winning novelist who has graced us with her essays found in The Death of Adam. Robinson gives the read the feeling of being much more educated than he or she really is. These essays provide readers with different ways of discussing history, religion and society. Such as, the hourly wages. The average wage for a cosmetologist is about twelve dollars and seventy-two cents and tips. Even though that is above minimum wage, cosmetologist does not always have appointments, so they have slow days. Also, a cosmetologist spends a great deal of time on their feet and that can lead to pain in the back or legs. Another downside to becoming a cosmetologist is the licensing requirements. All states have different requirements, such as how many hours are required. It is important to know and understand all the requirements before committing to the cosmetology…
Becoming a cosmetologist hasn't been easy. There are bumps and turns, meltdowns, breakdowns, and many nights studying. Along with the hard parts there are many amazing parts. I am thankful for all people who go to a cosmetology school to get their hair done. Without them, cosmetology students wouldn’t be able to get the practice they desperately need before going out into a real salon. However, when you come into a school you must sign a waiver that says the student is not responsible for any mistakes made. We’re well trained, but we’re not professionals. Not everyone realizes this. Some of these clients are brutal. Take it from me. I went to cosmetology school, and there, I met all sorts of awful clients. Whether it’s the Elderly Perfectionists, the Know It Alls, or the Cinderella Wannabees, these clients don’t care who you are, they’ll eat you up and spit you out alive.…
Another great thing about just renting a booth is that you can control the hours you work. The greater part of people in this profession will work full time, but there are also people that only work part time and then have a different job on top of it, because cosmetologists have a flexible schedule. They normally have a flexible schedule because a lot of people come to receive the services they provide when they themselves aren’t working. That means that hours for a typical cosmetologist could include busy weeknights and weekends. Cosmetologists also need to have immense physical stamina because they are standing for lengthy periods of time and doing lots of different tasks throughout the day. The Work environment will also most likely be rather relaxed because Cosmetologists need to be friendly and talkative to communicate with people while they are providing services (“Barbers, Hairdressers, and Cosmetologists”). After taking my Skills Confidence Assessment through Kansas Career Pipeline, my results showed that I would be good at providing human services, so this proves that I would be good fit for this…
“What sets this student apart?” This is arguably the most important question asked by an admissions team reviewing all of the well-qualified applicants to an immensely competitive program such as the University of San Francisco Nursing Program. While most applicants being considered have a minimum 3.5 GPA, what makes a student stand out for this opportunity? I believe the answer to this question is short and sweet: personality. When there is a deep talent pool of well-educated, hard-working individuals all vying for the opportunity to make a difference, it is important to look beyond the paper to see who these students are and how they will be able to represent the reputation of USF and the nursing profession. We are people hoping to make a difference in, not only the world around us, but more specifically in the world of health care, and the biggest difference…
