Creative Writing: Mason Street Haunted House
It was October 31, halloween night. The moon was full and shining brightly. It was a night of excitement for me and my friends, because we were finally old enough to go to the Mason Street haunted house. The mason street haunted house was no ordinary haunted house, it was in a long mansion atop an enormous hill. There is a rule that you have to be at least 13, because once a kid was so scared that he ran and hid. after 3 hours of searching, they finally found him in the attic buried behind old boxes and furniture. That kid must have been a real scaredy cat. I mean, it couldn’t have been that scary. Right?

I Finished tying my left boot as I heard a knock on the door. I wasn't wearing anything special, just a red t-shirt and a pair of

We each give our money to the man at the door. He was tall, with a creepy smile on his face. “good luck” He said sneeringly, and guided us in through the door. It looks like a lot of work was put into this. the room starts with a long corridor, that looks like it was just put there. they probably built it in with some type of heavy cardboard. The only light is provided by flickering lights above us. Right as we get about halfway through, the lights in the corridor shut off. I stopped, and five seconds later the lights snapped on, and a plastic head was hanging in front of me, six inches from my nose. my heart drops and then i realize it's not real. From behind me I could hear comments such as “oh jeez”, and “I wasn’t expecting that.” (They sent in a group of about six people at a time, and I was at the front, so I was getting all of the spooks.) I push the head out of the way and continue on Through the corridor. I enter a room through a doorway. I see a glimpse of another door, as the lights turn off and the door behind us is slammed shut. We are left in the dark for what seemed like forever, when i hear shuffling going across the floor. Suddenly, the lights quickly flicker, and in the middle of the room we see a man with a terrifying mask standing there right in front of us. The lights turn off, and on again, and the man is gone. We step forward to a doorway with a sign perched on the top. The sign reads, “THE …show more content…
I can tell by the change in temperature that we have moved out of the house. Goosebumps start to form on my arms. I never would have imagined that the haunted house would go outside. We start into the maze and after twenty steps, a hand reaches out and grabs my ankle. I stumble forward and the hand doesn't seem to loosen up any. finally it lets go and I spring forward, almost falling over, but then balancing myself on the wall. I look back and the hand is gone. I take a minute to catch my breath and shawn says, “Logan’s getting all the scares.” Obviously, somebody working the haunted house heard that, because a minute later another hand emerges, this time grabbing shawn’s leg. To which he reacts with a high pitched yelp, which makes the whole group laugh. “that's what you wanted wasn’t it?” I said sarcastically, and shawn gave me an angry look. We turned the corners of the maze, and people started to argue over which way we should go. Eventually we got split up. now it was just me, Tom, and Shawn. We walked quietly for awhile, and I realised it was a little too quiet, and I turned to the guys. But they weren't

“That summer the strangest things began to happen in the rear of the house,” John said. “Doors and windows began to slam. I’d go back there because I thought someone had come in.” Upon inspection though, he would discover the screen door and windows were securely latched from the inside. “There was no way anyone could go out and relatch the door or windows,” John said. One of the more unnerving occurrences even stood his friends’ hair on end. When his friends hung out in the kitchen, which is located in the rear of the house, their cigarettes would mysteriously snuff out. This happened on numerous occasions, but never in the front portion of the house. “I was scared to death of that bedroom, “said john of the room from which most of the spooky happenings seem to take place. That room, which had a window to the kitchen, happened to be his late grandfather’s bedroom and the room in which he died of natural causes 16 years…

Each year people from the tri-state area travel to different haunted houses to experience some of the scariest moments of their lives. The scariest haunted house of the state is located in Tuxedo Park, New York, called The Forest of Fear. This event is more extreme than ever this year, containing five attractions for one admission price between $20 and $30. The five attractions are Uncle Jimmie’s Place, Das Kamp, Blind Panic, The Graveyard, and the Slaughterhouse. This haunted house is not recommended to children under the age of 12 due to the gory, disturbing characters walking throughout the forest. Sara Abouaf, a junior at LHS, is going to the Forest of Fear with the Lady Lions Soccer Team for team bonding the weekend of the 23rd. Sara stated,…

In most haunted house stories now, the tormented inhabitants of the house usually discover some secret just before the biggest, most powerful ghostly display at the climax of the narrative. These discoveries are a way to explain the horror of the house. The 1999 film adaptation, The Haunting, embraces this kind of plot structure. If I had, I would’ve known on page 50, when Dr. Montague says, “some houses are born bad… What it was like before then, whether its personality was molded by the people who lived here, or the things they did, or whether it was evil from the start, are all questions I cannot answer.”…

On the night of Saturday, October 11th, Logan and I went out for a typical Saturday date night. This night in particular we had decided to do a haunted hayride called the Gauntlet at Harvest Hill Farm. The night was going well, we were enjoying one cheap scare after another. Until, suddenly the ride in front of us tumbled down a hill and rolled over. I don't recall thinking at all,…

The spider started walking around the room to see if I was in there. I had the bench, a stool, and a bunch of random objects I found in my moms room and closet. I ran to the closet and locked that door as well, and the top of the closet there was a hole leading up to the attic. I was always too frightened to go up into the attic due to spiders, rats, and other unknown things that could be up there. I knew if I had to go up though. I started climbing onto the shelves of the closet and opened up the cover into the attic. There was cobwebs and I was covered in them. I shut the door to the attic and sat trying not to make any noise at all. I sat in the attic as silent as Anne Frank was while she was in hiding. I sat in a room full of stress and anxiousness. An hour passed and there was no noise. I couldn’t sit in the attic all day, I had to get out eventually. Thirty minutes later, I peeked open the door to see into the closet, nothing was there and it was dead silent. I jumped out of the attic trying to be as quiet as a hummingbird. I tiptoed to peek out of the bathroom. There right in front of me was the monster. I was trapped, there was nothing I could do besides to plead and cry. I felt a big wind that felt like something was being sucked out of me. The monster looked at me almost as he was seeing through me. The baby head laughed and slowly, the whole monster slowly started…

Tired, with a headache, and not in capacity to maintain my eyes open, I remembered next day was Halloween, which was the last thing I remembered before falling sleep. I woke up and saw the watch, it was three o’clock a.m. I listened to a weird sound that came from my closet; it was soft, but I could hear it like a rat scratching the walls. Intrigued about what was happening, I woke up and walked towards the closet. The sound gave me the chills.…

It was about three days ago when me and my best friend, Zane, were just messing around like all of the boys our age do. We were at this abandoned mansion on the top of a tall hill called Bloodhill, don’t ask me why it’s called that, it just is. The abandoned mansion is very run down and old, about 100 years old, it has broken glass that has turned yellow from age, no electricity, patchy red carpet on the lower level and rotten wood planks on the second and third levels, it smells of mildew, there was a knife on the third floor that i had picked up and threw it down the stairs that led to the…

We shut the phone into its home and ran to the far back of the house. There, there was a open door. My mother reached for it as it snapped shut on the tip of her fingers, she shrieked, pulling her fingers back before she lost them. we ran upstairs to the third floor bathroom, and there she was. The trickery girl was hovering. Barely visible, he disappeared. With panic me and mother ran to the door and shut the window. Nothing but more soft whispers. We heard the mansion roar when the power went out, filled with light from only Windows. The only noise we heard in the empty motionless house was the phone ringing. We went down the stairs with caution, now only hearing the phone, and my heart. Mother picked up the phone. It was father! I couldn't make out everything they were saying, but mother told father she loved him and so did I, and a loud yell came from the phone. That was all I got before the phone went out. Mother started crying then, and I snapped back into it, focusing and thinking now. I realized how brave mother was and how hard it is on her with the baby on its way, and having this mess with all 3 of us. we weren't as much of a trouble to mother compared to some other kids we have seen. Harry, 13. Sally, 10. And me, 17. So we are all old enough to know how to behave properly. Over the sound of mother crying, I heard creeks in the floor above us. Sounding like.. Footsteps. Horror filled my heart, goosebumps all over my skin. I've heard about this. After Henry and the girl fell out of the window, they're ghosts came back and lived in the third story bathroom of all the millers. The curse says only when the window of that bathroom is opened, the girl haunts as a ghost, but Henry himself, as he was when after he fell. I don't know how he looks, but I thought of it as terrifying. I started crying, rushing my brain for ideas to flood me. No use, I was frozen. And too scared…

We ran backwards, but the gorilla followed us. Zain took off his shoe and threw it at the gorilla. He dodged it. All three of us tried running back further, but the lights were shut so we couldn’t see anything. We were sitting against a corner now, all hunched up together. Our heads were going to touch a skeleton that was dangling on top of us. I could feel tears forming in my eyes, and that’s when I heard laughter. I looked at Rehmah, and then Zain, they were also on the verge of crying, so I knew they weren’t pulling a prank on me. I got up and noticed the gorilla wasn’t a gorilla anymore. It turned out to be the person in charge of the haunted house in a gorilla mask. I was relieved and mad; I was glad it was just him. We headed outside. I could see the lights from inside the ride, reflecting off of the polished floor. I was so relieved, that it was over. I kept thinking about all the nightmares I was going to have; I was not looking forward to…

My sister and I shared a room, every night we would jump up out of bed whenever we heard a noise at night. We wanted to tell our grandmother and wondered if she heard the noises too, but we didn’t bother her. The ghost appeared to get braver as time went on. We could hear the footsteps come down the hall; they were getting closer to our bedroom door with each visit. I heard the steps dare to pass the doorway of our bedroom and enter our room. I felt slightly aware of something approach the side of the bed I had my back turned to, but I was scared to look. I just kept my face in my pillow and closed my eyes tightly. I felt as though there was someone right behind me, right behind my head just looking at me. I knew one thing for sure; I was not going to turn around to look. I just wanted to fall back asleep as soon as possible.…
