"Elena, wake up." The voice echoed, breaking though what seemed to be a barrier, though it still sounded so far away. "Elena" it whispered again and the petite brunette finally stirred in her deep sleep. At first she was unable to assess where it came from; it seemed she was running into a dark and never ending tunnel, attempting to find whoever it was that kept calling her name. However it was of no use, the closer she got, the further away the voice moved. Elena stumbled, her worry and tension rising to a boiling point. Why couldn't she see who was calling her and why did they keep leaving her? She must be dreaming, right? It was the only explanation for what was currently taking place. "ELENA" the voice sounded again, only this time it's …show more content…
Elena stood in the field, circling around as she scanned her surroundings; She hadn't the faintest clue on how she came to be here. In fact the more she tried to think about what had recently taken place, the more her memories seemed to fade away. It was as if the last 24-hours had been a blank. "Think.." She softly spoke to herself, trying to remember even the tiniest of clues to how she got to this place, face down in the dirt and grass. All she could remember was being back in Mystic Falls, her and the group had been discussing a way to get Bonnie back without her magic. They knew they had to work around Doctor Laughlin's father though, since they didn't want him trying to murder his own daughter again--After that all her memories seemed to fade away. "Hello?" Elena called out. She wasn't sure if someone would reply, but she had to at least try, she needed answers- now! However no one appeared, in fact, this place seemed to be void of any life at all. She had to admit, it had a creepy effect. Nevertheless, a farm house stood a short distance away and it appeared to be the only home for miles so whether she liked it or not, Elena had to walk there and take a chance that it wasn't some psychos house who brought unsuspecting vampires here, only to kill them

I thought to myself as I sprinted to my room and tried, unsuccessfully, to fall back asleep. Eventually, I could, and when I woke up, the world seemed like it was back to normal, with the sound of people's laughter and conversations filling the once empty space.…

After Alison and Tara ran off into the woods and relaxed by the lake. They both told each other stories that they have always wished would come true. They imagined those stories coming true by acting them out in an imaginary play scene. They sang “Kokomo at the top of [their] lungs over and over again” (Evans 39), wishing that they were somewhere else than at their grandmothers house. They would run off into the woods to get away from their grandmother Lydia, to get away from all the controlling rules and regulations that she has placed over the girls. However Lydia did not place harsh rules on Alison, which might be because Alison is the favorited granddaughter. After a while of the girls running off, Lydia finally had it. Lydia did not want the girls “disobeying her and running off” (Evans 40), anymore. So Lydia scared the girls by stating that “snakes are in the lake… [they] love water” (Evans 40). Lydia tells this little white lie so that she can manipulate the girls into thinking that the only safe place is to stay inside of that once luxurious house. However, Lydia’s little white lie spiraled into an occurrence of both day and night terrors for Tara. Tara could not sleep by herself anymore because of a night terror that caused her to toss and turn right off the top bunkbed and smack her head hard onto the solid cold floor. Startled, Alison was the one who ran to Tara’s side. When Lydia heard the loud…

Before Eugene moved to the house next to El Building (the building in which Elena lives), there was an old Jewish couple that lived there. She would watch the couple on a fire escape. She felt as if she had a very close connection to them. “Over the years I had become part of their family, without their knowing it of course” (Cofer, 6). She knew what they did and when they did it. As the husband died, the wife became a widow and the house had stood empty for weeks. When she grew a connection with the old Jewish couple, she grew a connection with the ominous hose she had been watching all summer. As Eugene and his family moved into the house, Elena would still go to the fire escape and just watch. After watching him, she thought, “I liked him right away because he sat at the kitchen table and read books for hours” (Cofer, 7). Eugene and Elena would both get bullied at school; they were both outsiders together. This did not stop Elena from liking Eugene. “But after meeting Eugene I began to think of the present more than the future. What I wanted to now was to enter the house I had watched for so many years, I wanted to see the other rooms where the old people had lived and where the boy spent his time” (Cofer, 12). They would periodically walk home together to the point where Eugene wanted Elena to come over his house and study one day, the day of President John F. Kennedy’s death.…

Ruth was unfamiliar with the curvy roads, and slowed down when the rain started forming a lake on the road in front of her, making it difficult for her to see the lines on the highway. Dark clouds hung slightly above the road and the sounds of rain beating against the car bothered her. “Perhaps I shouldn’t have chosen this day to ghost hunting,” she said as the inside windows fogged over, turning on the defroster she calmed down and sang along with the radio.…

I come from Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the most up and coming cities in America. My town is a beautiful, flourishing area with a lot to offer to a variety of people. With such diversification, we have not integrated our neighborhoods, schools, or the social scene nearly enough. Communities can become racially prevalent leading to separations in culture and heritage. I can see this in the high schools throughout the area during our football games or competitions which is depriving to everyone involved. Leaving people unaware of their surroundings creates a bubble of ignorance. Mallard creek provides so much culture as it is is zoned for so many areas, however, other schools are not provided the opportunity I am. As the severance continues,…
