Damien Memorial: Strengthes And Weaknesses
We all share weaknesses as well as strengths however, we also share our strengths to strengthen each other’s weaknesses. The campus I have chosen to call mines is one that will be remembered for its versatility and compassion. I have never stepped foot on a campus where everyone is so accepting towards each other despite our differences. It is one thing to have many best friends, however, here at Damien we have family instead. From prior experiences, I have come to the realization that school is a very competitive setting where relationships cannot be built if you lack common interests. However, Damien has taught me otherwise because at this high school, we do not allow our weaknesses to define us.

Here at Damien, our strengths and our weaknesses bring us together rather than segregating us. When you think of high school, you may think of cliques and the usual stereotypes but this student body excels at abolishing them. We come together as one, equivalent community by helping each other rather than judging each other because of our differences. All of us have goals set that we are working to achieve and being in an environment like Damien Memorial makes our greatest difficulties diminish easily. Our classmates, teachers, coaches, and staff are all here to help us better ourselves in ways that no other student body would be able to accomplish.

Unlike many, we use our advantages to help those around us to better themselves. We do not flaunt ourselves and boast about what makes us superior to others. Instead, we come together as brothers and sisters to learn that our differences, strengths, and weaknesses are not there to degrade our self esteem. Those dissimilarities are there for us to help each other grow together as the family we are. We are Damien Memorial School, we are unique and

The Vietnam War officially ended in April of 1975 for the United States, but the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was not constructed and dedicated until March of 1982, seven years later. The viewer would notice the memorial is a black granite wall stretching around the Constitutional Gardens in Washington, D.C., which display the names of the service men and women who served in the Vietnam War. I believe that building the community at Madison mean to me is how we should set the example in the new freshmen. By this I mean is if we show the new freshmen kindness and Link Crew is good. They would also want to be in Link Crew and be a good student due to the kindness shown to them. The reason why I said that is because I say a movie called ‘Pay It Forward’ where a kid believed that a recipient of a favor does a favor for three others rather than paying the favor back. However, it needs to be a major favor that the receiver can't complete themselves. I believe if we do something similar to that then by giving the freshmen kindness they will give the next freshmen kindness and so on. Also we are the first people the new freshmen will meet and see, we are the link for their transition from middle school to high school that will help them when needed. An in return they will help out their community due to help given to them.…

During my first year at Florida State University I plan to grow as an individual. To achieve this is not only important to fill in your head with loads of knowledge, but also to see other cultures, meet new people, discover myself, discover my weaker and/or stronger points, and squeeze my stronger abilities at my maximum to achieve my goals. I plan to help others as much as I’ve been doing until now, or even more. I believe in creating a better atmosphere where peers help each other in whatever they need. I’ve been lucky spent almost sixteen years of my life in a school where they taught me to excel by working as a team. I plan to bring these philosophy to FSU because if instead of competing with one another, we bring what we are best at to…

The beginning of my freshman year in high school changed my life. I had set many types of goals for myself this year including making friends, helping others and being a part of the most incredible organization, Blue Guards. Blue Guards is apart of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Oxon Hill High School. Blue Guards was not only a drill team, it was a family, a family of girls and boys working together, leading others, having discipline, and respecting each other as a team. Walking into the first day of school knowing I was going to be part of this team made me light up like a light bulb.…

Just as the AP course positively impacted me, with the assistance of the Woodford R. Porter Scholarship, I know I can have the same impact on the University of Louisville community. At the University of Louisville, I hope to earn my degree in chemical engineering. I do understand that this degree requires a lot of knowledge about mathematics. Because I was able to overcome difficult academic situations in high schools, I know I am better prepared to deal with these challenges in college. Furthermore, my experiences of struggling in my AP courses have helped me become more sympathetic to my peers. If I see one of my peers struggling, I will provide assistance to them because I know how hard it is to ask for help. By working with my peers, we can ultimately develop a friendship inside and outside the classroom. By developing these relationships, we can learn from one another. While I cannot change my peers’ perspectives about certain issues, I can introduce them to a new perspective, my perspective. By introducing my peers to my perspective, I have helped them become more self-aware as they can do the same for me. In essence, by attending the University of Louisville, I know I can uphold the University’s mission by improving my peers’ lives by sharing my own lived experiences in classrooms. By sharing my narrative and experiences, I know I will create a more diverse…

Using our institution’s motto of “It’s All Here,” is very indicative of the key qualities of the Hawk experience. Residential communities are not just where students go to sleep and shower, it becomes their home. And home is where those foundational elements are rooted in an individual that assist in developing a sense of well-being, identity, activism and living in a larger global context. Our resident communities are composed of various gender identities, religious affiliations, racial and ethnic identities and cultures. So it’s important that every single resident is contributing to a community that is diverse and open to accepting people that have not encountered yet. More so, those same values stated beforehand: Well-Being, Identity, Inclusive…
