Volcanic eruptions can cause damage within hundreds of miles away. The volcano ash's causes airplane engines to fail, destroys crops, contaminates water, and damages electronics and machinery. When the ash touch's the ground, burying everything, sometimes even make's buildings to collapse. Mount St. Helen's produced more than 490 tons of ash that fell over some many miles. All volcanos are dangerous. They are all scattered all over the world and we don't know when they are going to blow. The three volcanos I picked were pretty interesting. The Pavlof is the most active and one of the most active in North America. The Cero Negro is not as big as the other to volcano's I picked. The Tungurahua is a very large and pretty cool looking volcano.…

Dante and Virgil are outside the eighth Circle of Hell, known as Malebolge. The circle has a wall along the outside, and has a circular pit in the center. The ridges create ten separate pits. This is where the people receive their punishment for fraud. This is where Virgil and Dante see souls from one side to another. The demons with great whips cause pain to the souls when they come to the demon’s reach, which then force the souls to the other ridge. There is an Italian that Dante recognize and he speaks to him. The Italian tells Dante that he lived in Bologna, and now is there to sell his sister. The pit is for the Seducers and the Panders, and then Dante saw the Jason of mythology who abandoned Medea. When Virgil and Dante had…

In May 1980, following an earthquake Mount St. Helens erupted, triggering a massive landslide, which sent a plume of ash up into the sky so far that it scattered ash across a dozen states (Taylor, 2015.) When the volcano erupted, the north face of the volcano blew out spewing an avalanche of rock and debris up into the atmosphere. In addition to the previously mentioned effects of Mount St. Helens erupting, the blast also caused massive destruction to…

Overview To all the residents in the village of Boomsdale, recently Dr. Bigbrain with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has detected small earthquakes coming from Mt. Thunder. For those of you that do not yet know, Mt. Thunder is an active stratovolcano and these earthquakes could be related to an impending volcanic eruption. There are three types of volcanos which include: shield volcanos, scoria cone volcanos, and stratovolcanoes. Unfortunately, stratovolcanoes are the most dangerous, explosive, and deadly volcanoes. The reason for stratovolcano’s explosive tendency is because of the type of magma contained in the volcano’s magma chamber located underground beneath Mt. Thunder.…

The most recent eruptive period was in the 1980’s. Due to USGS (United States Geological Survey) geologists observations of a large bulge measuring 140m on the north face of the volcano. Using modern laser and radar technology they were able to track the movements of this bulge in order to predict when the volcano was in danger of erupting from a an observation tower 6 miles away. With this data collected the authorities were convinced to shut off the volcano to the local populations who make use of the volcano’s fertile soil for a large logging business and many recreational users who walk dogs or come to enjoy the views. As will be shown later, the shutting of the volcano saved many local thousands of tourists, workers and locals lives alone.…

The fire crossed the river because of an oily, greasy, residue that had built up. After the fire managed to cross the river a firestorm stirred up and tore through the city’s Business District. The heat from the fire helped to generate it’s own wind, and in those areas of extreme heat, the hot air was rising away from the fire while other air is rushing in with great force and it begins to produce twisters of fire. At 2:30 in the morning the fire once again jumps the river, and the rushing winds push smoldering ashes into the North District where the city’s only water pumping station resides. The roof of the station ignites and burns until it collapses in on itself and destroyed the city’s water supply. By 3:30 any and all hope of saving the city was lost. During the night of October 9th a strong cold front moves forward into the Chicago area. The temperature dropped from a blazing 85 degrees to a chilled 50. Along with this cold front, rain was brought on. The rain was caused by the cold front moving in and cause precipitation to occur over the…

Chicago is not one of the best places to live because of the rising crime rate. Recent statistics have shown that more people are leaving the city to move to Indiana because of this. If the crime rate were lower probably people would still stay in Chicago. Al Capone once said “In this town murders a form of entertainment” which means that Chicago has had a long history of crime and the numbers of crime that have taking place in Chicago are still on the rise. Some people might say Chicago is one of the best places to live because it’s a beautiful place to live but Chicago has experienced some of the worst crimes in history. For instance the Jeffery Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy murders happened here. There are good neighborhoods in Chicago and I live on the Northside and crime doesn’t discriminate against anyone. I did have a crime against me was committed and my viewpoint has change on Chicago being a safe place to live.…
