The Data protection act is structured to protect personal information that is held in paper and electronic format and should never be disclosed, except in special cases and for legitimate purposes, especially if it is to do with government instructions that are authorised by law.

This act is also to ensure that the information provided is correct and up to date. Confidential information will not be passed on through phone calls without providing correct details by i.e. passing security questions to ensure the correct person is provided with the personal information and not an intruder trying to collect information on someone else.

The act concerning the control of substance hazards is there to make sure that organisations are well aware of all the health risks that can occur if regulations are not followed properly.
Organisations are compelled by law to strictly allow guidelines, by making sure to always assess the risks posed by different hazardous substances such as chemicals, body fluids or sharp objects.
