David Coleman Headly: A Summary

This documentary is about a man whose name is David Coleman Headly, although this is not the name that he was born with. His birth name was Daood Sayeed Gilani, born from an American mother and a Pakistani father. His parents divorced because of differences of life style, American versus Pakistani. While living in Pakistan, Daood went to a private military school. While at school, Pakistan had received a humiliating defeat from India and 2 stray bombs hit his school and killed 2 people, this was engraved into his head and he never forgot this. Once his parents divorced Daood lived in Pakistan until around 20 years old or so, this was because he did not get along with his step-mother, so he sought help from his birth mother who was living back in the states. When back in the states he became a heroin addict and a drug smuggler. This is when Daood first started to get in trouble with the law. He used his friend Tahawwur Rana to get to Pakistan and go to the
Not to mention the radical nature of the groups that he was associated with. After, 9/11 in America he needed to change his name to be able to travel easier, therefore he changed it to David Coleman Headly. Additionally, this helped him drop off the radar as far as the US and British intelligence was concerned. Thus, he was able to scout out Mumbai easier for an attack. There were several places that were under surveillance Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Stadium, Sea Rock Hotel, Mumbai Juhn Airfield, and the J.W. Marriot Hotel. This attack started out as a 1 to 2 person hit and run attack but quickly built up to an 8-10-person attack. The attack took place on November 26, 2008 and 166 people over 3 days were killed.
