David Mccullough's Speech To Seniors At Wellesley High School
David McCullough speaks to seniors at Wellesley High School in June 2012. McCullough is trying to get the audience to understand the importance of their high school diploma. McCullough gives a touching, stern speech that grabs the students attention quickly. Think about a parent lecturing their children, that's how it was.
David McCullough uses very good examples in this speech. McCullough points out that marriage can be taken away and never thought of again, but your high school diploma will carry on with you forever. Regardless of what you do from here on out, you will always be a high school graduate. McCullough says, “From this day forward truly in sickness and in health, through financial fiascos, through midlife crises, through diminishing tolerance for annoyingness, through every difference, irreconcilable and otherwise, you will stay forever graduated from high school, you and your diplomas as one, ‘til death do you part”.
