In the story, David said, “I could also tell the lady had picked up on the communication between Mother and me”. (pg. 126). One of the emotional indicators for physical abuse is fear of being with a certain individual and in this case, it was David’s mother. The social service lady should’ve picked up on the silent language that David and his mother had going on and separated them so she could talk to David and find the truth. At that point, David already figured out why his mother was nice to him, and he probably would’ve given some information to the social service person which would have led them to investigate more. Also, there had to be some indicators that this boy had physical abuse on his body. There were so many things that happened to David that there still had to be dome injuries on him. If she saw a bruise asked where he got it from, and usually you’ll be able to tell if their story changes from what they initially said. There was also obvious physical abuse in Eli’s story. The doctors in his case reported twice that something was wrong, and nothing was done about the situation. The doctors not only reported that he had scarring and bruising, but this three-year-old had a ruptured bowel and died from it because social services
