been complete. Everyone greeted my mother and then we all sat down to eat except for my grandma. She walked back into the kitchen and started to bring out the food, finally I decided to go help her. *
My grandmother is one of the most amazing people I know, she is selfless and will do anything for the people she loves. There is one instance I remember where she was like a modern day saint. Two summers ago I was working at a local pool as a lifeguard, I had ran into some trouble with my bank and had over drafted money. At the time since I was under the age of eighteen I had to have an adult on my account, my grandma. She was contacted by my bank and was told the amount I had overdrawn, although very disappointed in me she till proceeded to help. She called me and told me that she was going to put the money in my account and that it would be a loan. I told her that I love her deeply and that I did not know how to repay for the kindness she has shown me. My grandmother had told me that the only way to repay her was by showing her the love that she shows me every day. My mother loves with all of her heart and all of her soul, but never is returned the love she is given. She protects her family and wants them to be safe no matter if she gets hurt in the process. One instance is when I was in second grade, it was normal morning getting ready for school. My mom woke me up, I ate breakfast and then went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Now when I usually brush my teeth in order to see myself I stand on the ledge of my bathtub to look in the mirror. As I was coming down from the ledge I slid and popped back up jamming my head into the corner of the mirror. What I remember next is falling to the ground and just holding my head as it bled. My mother hearing the commotion ran to the bathroom and picked me up into her arms. She held me till I stopped crying and the bleeding stop, my mother made sure I was okay and then put me back into my bed for the rest of the day. When coming out from the kitchen to the dining room, my grandmother turned to me and said," thank you." My grandmother and myself finally sat down and we began the feast of all feast with a prayer.
My family, with our weird traditions, always says two different prayers, one for the Lutherans and the other for the Catholics. My grandmother being Lutheran led that one and my mother being Catholic led the other. After both prayers were said the grub fest could commence. During Thanksgiving dinner no one usually talks until we all have food on our plates, but this year was different. My grandmother in the middle of everyone passing plates and scooping big helpings of potatoes on to our dishes looked over at me and said, " Someday I'll be gone and it will be your own family you will be cooking for, remember to never take advantage of the time you have on …show more content…

Every year for my birthday my grandma would take me out shopping a couple of days before and out to lunch. For my tenth birthday my grandma took me downtown to the American Girl Doll store for the birthday of a lifetime. When we first got on the train heading to downtown Chicago, I was nervous for what she had in store but when I found out I was overjoyed. My grandmother pulled out all the stops for my double digits birthday. We started off the day with play at the store and then made our way to a five course lunch, included with a serenade by the staff. After that we made our way to the camera man so I could take a picture with my doll and then we finally ended our day with buying multiple clothes and accessories for my dolls. My grandma made my birthday unforgettable. As a four year old all I wanted to do for my birthday was to have a giant party with a Barbie cake, and that’s exactly what I got thanks to my mom.
My mother wanted to give me the birthday of my dreams and that is exactly what she did. She told me that for this birthday I was not going to be able to have a huge party like I had wanted, so I threw a fit. I started to yell and scream and cry until my mom calmed me down. She told me that birthdays do not have to be extravagant in order for it to be a birthday, but as long as you have your family surrounded by you be fine. When my party came I walked into my back yard and saw that all of my family was there and everything I had wanted was too, I was so overjoyed my mom couldn’t contain me. I ran up to her and gave her the biggest hug ever, she told " Happy birthday sweetie! I love you." Thanksgiving dinner had finally been over and we all started to clean up. This is where my grandmother usually does all the work but this year we all told her you do way too much for us, it’s your turn to relax. We cleaned up all of the dishes and packed away all of the leftovers. My mom and I were in charge of doing the dishes and as we were doing them she looked at me and said, "Eri, don't take advantage of the time you have left here on
