At first, I was extremely upset; I didn’t into the only school I wanted to go to
for all four years. As I was feeling all these different emotions from angry to sad, I still had to start thinking about what my plan was going to be. I didn’t want to live with my parents for another semester when everyone else is moving in. I started thinking about just going to Grand Valley for all four years, which was the only other school I applied to. I already had toured the campus and it was nice, but I wanted to go to a big ten school and live on a huge campus; Grand valley didn’t have those things I wanted, so I realized I shouldn’t go there. My difficult decision continued as I had to find a different solution to my problem.
Then I thought about staying home first semester, instead of going to school, and working. The benefit of this would be saving up lots of money and I would also be able to go to Michigan State in the spring. The problem I had with this is that I didn’t want to be behind in school; I didn’t want to be a whole semester behind every other freshman at Michigan State, if anything I would want to be ahead. It was obvious to me that I needed to be at some school during the fall if I didn’t want to get behind.
Since I wanted to go to Michigan State in the spring and not get behind in my classes, the only other option I really had was going to community college for a semester. I thought I could just go to Schoolcraft and take a few classes. The benefit is that it would be cheaper than going to Michigan State in the fall; I would be saving money. On the other hand, I didn’t want to go to a school that almost everyone made fun of in high school; I wanted to go to a school nearly everyone would know, for example Michigan State . At that point, I didn’t know what to do till my friend Caroline, who also only got into Michigan State for the spring, told me what she was doing. I found out she was going to the University of Michigan Dearborn for the first semester, which helped with my decision tremendously. I applied to U of M Dearborn the same day she told me and later got in. This school was nearly perfect because U of M is well known, I would be saving money, I wouldn’t be behind in classes, and most importantly I would end up going to Michigan State. The only cost would be continuing to live with my parents for another semester, but I knew that this school was the best fit I could find for the fall semester. I ended up registering for my classes and going to the University of Michigan Dearborn for the fall.
