Definition Of A Hero
A police officer saved a little boy from potentially being hit by a semi truck. The little boy ran onto the highway after he snuck out of an open door at a community center. This man should be considered a hero. Heroes are all different types of people and aren’t always noticed. People are recognized as heroes when they are unique, selfless, and strong. I think that a hero should be unique. Heroes stand out from others and are different from everyone else. I think that a hero should stand out from others because it shows people that they shouldn’t be afraid of being different. Heroes should not be like everybody else and they shouldn’t always worry about what others think. This helps define a hero because if they change themself for other people, they aren’t unique. An example of this particular quality of a hero could be Ed Sheeran. According to capitalfm.com, when Ed Sheeran was younger, he was bullied. He …show more content…
A hero should put others before themselves. This should be a quality that a hero should have because it shows that they truly care about others and want to help others. A hero is not selfish and conceited. If a person is selfish and conceited, it makes them look like they only care about themselves, which is not a quality that a hero should have. Jeremy Gautney could be a person that shows what selflessness looks like. Jeremy Gautney is a deputy for Lincoln County and, according to Daily News, was shocked when he saw a 2-year-old boy suddenly appear in the middle of Highway 101. The boy was running down the road after he snuck out of an open door at the community center. Then, without thinking of the consequences, Jeremy saved the little boy just as a semi truck drove past. I think that this man should be considered a hero because if he wasn’t driving on the highway at the exact time that the little boy was there, the child could have died. Not only should a hero be selfless, they should also be

Throughout history, there have been an incalculable number of heroes; that can be through reality or fictitious. From viewing the clips from this assignments and reading various articles regarding heroism, there are multiple aspects that determine exactly what a hero should be. In regards to the Spiderman video, Aunt May explains that a hero is someone that is courageous, self-sacrificing, and sets examples for others. Likewise, an article I read describes a hero as someone who is courageous, selfless, humble, patient, and caring. In my opinion, a hero is an individual who cares more about the life of others than themselves; they would do anything in their power to protect others as well as the world around them.…

The definition of hero varies among people but, in my definition of a Hero is a person who is able to achieve the difficult task regardless of the resistance of society or sacrificing themselves in risky situations. A hero is not a person who is easily scared, gives up easily and selfish. In my opinion, when people are described as “hero” we neglect their bad behaviors, but this doesn’t imply to every hero we should be aware of such things because we all have our own flaws.…

A hero puts others before himself like doctors and firefighters. Every day their life is put on the line to save others’ lives. They wake up and make the choice to save and heal the hurt. For example a single mom that works two full time jobs just to provide for her family because her husband was killed in Afghanistan fighting for our country. To some people this choice to put others first is real. Take someone with a job as small as driving a city bus if they quit or saw people on the side of the street and just kept driving all those people would not get where they needed to go. What if one of those people…

This is why selflessness is another important factor in what it means to be a hero. A hero takes action for the purpose of helping others, without hidden motives or personal agendas. Heroes are willing to forget about their own needs when faced with the needs of others. One such example of selflessness is found in the story of Victoria Soto. The schoolteacher was only 27 years old when she gave her life trying to shield her young students during the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Connecticut. This action shows selflessness in its most pure form, completely abandoning concern for oneself in the process of helping, or in this case saving, others. While sacrificing ones life to save another’s is an extreme example of this, it can also be found in the actions of the everyday heroes that surround us. A working single mother is an example of a selfless hero that we are surrounded by in our day-to-day life. While she isn’t literally giving her life for anyone, a single mother who has to work long hours and sacrifice sleep and other wants to provide for her children is displaying selflessness and most certainly establishing herself as a hero to her children and those around her. “A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really deeply cares.” – Debi…

A hero isn’t always what you would automatically think of, not all heroes fly, or use super strength. Heroes in the modern day are expected of a lot. They need to resist the bad things that are constantly surrounding them, and show that they care about their surroundings. They should choose good, even when everybody else is doing the wrong thing. There are heroes around us everyday. A hero can save the world, and do amazing things. But we tend to overlook the heroes that walk around with us everyday.…
