Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Analysis
I am interested in membership in the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. because I love what the Deltas stand for. The organization is filled with strong ,college educated Black women, who in my opinion want to change the world. This is of immense importance to me because this is what I consider myself doing and trying to do. I want to change the world starting with my black community. I admire the strong sisterhood because I look around at the other sorriotys and notice that even though they claim sisterhood, there is not always proof of that. They walked away but before all offering their condolences to my aunt. My mother opened the letter and they couldn’t believe it. They were offering their help to help pay for my cousin Lauren’s funeral. And that is what they did they checked on her frequently to make sure she was okay and eating properly, going outside , making sure she had this continuous support and no she was not alone. They were her family, when her biological family could not be there physically to support her. That is why I admire and I’m forever grateful to the Deltas that went above and beyond in my

Lena Horne an honorary lady of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated was a great artist in the Harlem Renaissance era. Lena abilities to sing and act paved a way for many African Americans. Due to her skin complexion, she receives roles that other African American women couldn’t get. She was the first black female to receive a very long contract with MGM. Her impact encourages many great women singers today because she broke the color barrier in music. I think if it wasn’t for Lena Horne, we wouldn’t have as many women singers and rappers in the music world today.…

I thought that this type of life wasn’t for me. My perspective changed when I met some of the talented, responsible, studious men of the organization, known as Phi Iota Alpha at SIU. I realized that this fraternity is a place where I belong. If I were to have honor to be accepted into this organization, I would hope to gain a range of leadership opportunities from events that are hosted. I’m looking to gain a networking and academic support system where I can have someone to guide me when I am on the wrong path. Most importantly, if I were to join Phi Iota Alpha, I’m looking to get a family/brotherhood because I admire how they’re unified amongst themselves and demonstrate this unity on campus. This brotherhood would allow me to share my culture with those that understand where I come from and will help me learn about the Hispanic community associated with Greek life and the campus. Thank you for considering me as a candidate, I think I can be a great asset to Phi Iota…
